SUMMARY:

The CDL Instructor is responsible for all aspects of the CDL Training provided by the ULF Academy. This includes Classroom, Range, and on road training of students. Managing all equipment involved with the training process, and DOT/regulatory safety compliance. Enforcing strict safety guidelines as set forth by State and Federal Regulations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all students meet qualification requirements
  • Lead classroom, range, and/or road CDL license training
  • Participates in the recruitment, onboarding & training of all student drivers in compliance with school policies and DOT regulations.
  • Oversees and directs daily student activities and performance.
  • Performs and documents student evaluations; ensures proper compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain daily attendance records
  • Maintain student progress.
  • Identify any gaps in training. Provide additional assistance as necessary.
  • Assist with setting department goals.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and ensure safe work practices.
  • Handle customer issues and provide resolutions
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Company, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have no history of conviction of a gross misdemeanor or felony.

Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must provide 3000 hours of verifiable driving experience.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of general DOT regulations and application.
  • Must have no history of conviction of a gross misdemeanor or felony.
  • Must successfully pass State Instructor Certification. (Training Provided)
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to handle changing priorities.
  • Must possess exceptional communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Ability to obtain Smith System Trainer Certification; must maintain credentials

Certification, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Class A CDL, required.

PREFERRED QULIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years safe driving in tractor-trailer combination

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typical office environment with desks, chairs, computer equipment/monitors, overhead shelves & filing cabinets. Sitting/Standing at workstation 30% of the time; standing/Walking away from work station 90% of time; frequent telephone and face to face interaction; work includes walking through noisy rsngr environment. Work may include driving tractor trailer and delivering product.
  • Schedule typically 7:30am to 4:30pm M-F
  • Salary range $65-$70K
