Job Summary

The Center Operations Manager will provide operational and administrative support for major externally funded programs in trusted and assured microelectronics, including (1) Center for Secure Microelectronics Ecosystem (CSME), a multi-university public-private-academic partnership for graduate training and research, and (2) CSME-related aspects of Scalable Asymmetric Lifecycle Engagement Microelectronics Workforce Development program (SCALE), a multi-university public-private-academic partnership for workforce development.


This position will support the directors of CSME to develop and implement operational processes for research tasks as specified in the contractual statement of work (SOW) to government and industry sponsors. This role will also serve as the operational and administrative liaison between the two integrated center-level efforts (CSME and SCALE) to ensure programmatic alignment and delivery. This role will support the directors in communicating with thrust leaders and project participants and oversee the organization of in-person and virtual program reviews and other sponsor meetings, while helping to coordinate internal meetings as needed, support the directors and thrust leaders to monitor progress on program activities and deliverables across partner universities, engage with partners and sponsors to help maintain and increase their participation, while addressing operational and administrative matters that arise, and prepare and submit reports and deliverables to the sponsors as well as monitor spending of the thrusts and subcontracts according to sponsor and regulatory requirements and distribution of new funding to thrust leaders and other project participants. In addition, this position will coordinate with Sponsored Program Services and the Business Office managers (Office of Research including Discovery Park, College of Engineering, and various schools) to ensure that the spending plan is being followed, provide periodic updates to CSME directors on the integrated effort, new opportunities, and major challenges and manage the CSME website and update its content to ensure visibility.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science discipline, business, marketing, communications, public affairs, or other related field
  • 6 years of experience in research program/project management
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered (Associate's + 8 years of experience; HS diploma/GED + 10 years of experience)
  • Significant experience in managing large, interdisciplinary, and diverse projects
  • Experience building and leading collaborative teams between government entities, corporate affiliates, and multi-institutional partners
  • Experience working and collaborating with faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate students
  • Experience working with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Experience identifying and collaborating with corporate partners
  • Experience managing complex budgets
  • Knowledge of project management techniques
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills and an ability to communicate across all levels from academia, industry, and government
  • Up-to-date computer skills and knowledge of internet and web-based interfaces
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage and execute multiple tasks, work under deadlines, and interface international teams of technical, professional, and clerical personnel
  • Ability to effectively interact with university administration, faculty, staff, students, and post docs
  • Budget administration skills
