We have a full-time position available for a Central Operations Specialist or Senior Central Operations Specialist in Downtown Los Angeles, CA, office where you can use your excellent customer service skills to work independently but also work in a team environment. As the human face of the bank, you’ll be responsible for providing high-level operational support to our Operations Group for critical account balance and reconcilement, exception item processing, certifications, foreign item processing, special account handling. You will be monitoring assigned reports and correcting errors found. It is important to ensure that strong internal controls are in place and adhered to in order to prevent loss and properly safeguard the assets of the Bank.
What you will do
- Provide assistant in the critical accounting functions, ensure that adequate controls are in place to manage the timely and accurate balancing, reconciling and monitoring of all critical accounts including certain general accounts, bancontrol accounts and correspondent bank controls.
- Assist clients with basic banking needs and also more complex transaction such as ACH processing, on-line banking and new accounts.
- Identify and report to appropriate personnel any trends or issues identified through the Reconciliation process. Contact appropriate personnel when assistance is needed to complete issue resolution. Escalate ongoing problem issues to management.
- Responsible for accurately posting manual and electronic cash transactions, reconcile balance sheets, calculate and monitor daily funding requirements.
- Assist with core Operations activities and targeted operations special projects.
- Assist and follows all aspects of customer servicing, including all complex administrative, operational, service and product issues.
- Recommend operational policy and procedures enhancements to ensure optimal client service and ease of execution by bank staff.
- Assist in completion and documentation of independent reviews of branch and central operations certifications.
- Perform administrative tasks as assigned.
- Assist couriers, vendors with delivery acceptance. Distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and may train others on products, services, departmental systems, and related technology, policies and procedures.
- Bring any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Chief Risk Officer.
- Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
- Understand and adhere to regulatory guidelines including but not limited to FCRA, BSA, GLBA, etc. as the regulations pertain to the employee's job function.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What you will need to bring
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience with general accounting and bank reconciliation experience (bank back office).
- Good general banking experience to include client service issues and overall bank operations.
- Good written and communication skills, including ability to deal professionally with challenges and questions.
- Capability of working well independently and as part of a team and exercising appropriate level of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility.
- Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational, research and follow-up skills.
- Requires the ability to employ basic reasoning skills.
- Strong Banking Software Skills required (Fiserv preferred). Ability to stay up-to-date on software changes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook. Excellent in Excel.
