SCHEDULE: MONDAY - FRIDAY 2 PM - 10 PM

Certified Medical Assistant

Performs a variety of administrative and direct care duties relating to resident’s day to day activities, and medical care under the direct supervision of the nursing staff.

Classification Summary

The primary function of an employee in this class is to assist the nursing staff with scheduling and facilitation of resident medical needs in alignment with the resident’s treatment plan and Innercept’s holistic intention. The CMA uses initiative, individual judgment, and interpersonal skills to respond to the needs of Innercept’s residents. CMA staff must convey information appropriately, while keeping higher level management fully aware of activities and operations. He/she works independently, contributing to Innercept’s integral operations by performing and/or managing special functions, processes, procedures and systems. This class requires a high level of confidentiality of verbal and written information and detailed knowledge of department programs and related work that goes beyond established procedures.

The position is under the direct supervision of the Nursing Director, although leeway is allowed for independent judgment and initiative. The principle duties of the position are performed in the office, at off-site locations and outdoor environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage and interact with residents on many levels;
  • Assist with the medication management and overall well-being of residents;
  • Coach and demonstrate daily life skills in accordance with the resident’s treatment plan;
  • Provide observation and support for therapists and other members of the treatment team through consistent and concise communication;
  • Provide precise and consistent documentation and communication to internal and external customers;
  • Participate in transporting residents to other Innercept facilities, medical appointments and various offsite locations;
  • Accompany residents on various social outings and volunteer opportunities within the community;
  • Support the Nursing team in the successful implementation of Innercept’s core philosophies;
  • Remain alert to status and whereabouts of all residents in your care;
  • Engage residents within the Group environment and encourage participation;

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs any and all other duties as required.

Ability to:

  • Ability to participate with residents in various physical activities including but not limited to personal exercise programs, hiking and other outdoor activities;

  • Plan, organize and work independently;
  • Maintain confidentiality of information processed or prepared;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisory personnel, residents and the public;
  • Operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties;

· Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;

· Respond appropriately to staff, resident, and public inquiries and present a positive public image;

  • Explain department functions, policies, and procedures;

· Use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions.

Acceptable Experience and Training

· High school diploma or GED equivalency; preferably supplemented by college level coursework in Nursing, Social Work, Recreational Therapy, or other related area;

· Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Special Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification;
  • Must be at least 21 years old;
  • Must have a valid state issued driver’s license;
  • Must be able to pass Idaho Dept. of Health and Welfare background check and Tuberculosis test;
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certifications.

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively with residents, the public and other employees on the telephone and in person;
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written instructions and review, evaluate, and prepare a variety of written/typed documents and materials;
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate computer equipment and other office equipment;
  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and agility, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 50 pounds, to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in a residential environment, as well as, various other indoor/outdoor venues.
