Duties and Tasks:
- Instructor will use the State of Virginia Board of Nursing curriculum to prepare nurse aide students to successfully complete the nurse aide certification exam.
As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with college policies, procedures, and regulations.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Holds a current, unrestricted Virginia license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) holds multistate licensure privilege.
- Must have at least one year of direct client care or supervisory experience in the provision of geriatric long-term care services in the last 5 years
- One year of experience as a nurse within the previous 5 years and at least one year of experience in the provision of long-term care services (includes experience such as employment in a nurse aide program, employment or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care or other long-term care setting).
- Must hold a current Nurse Aide Instructor training certification (can be provided upon successful hire)
- Experience teaching adult learners from a diverse population
- BSN or higher preferred
