Certified Peer Recovery Supporter
(2300039T)The mission of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is to provide statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans.
Under supervision of the Rights and Recovery Administrator a Certified Peer Supporter provides direct services that support patients along their wellness and recovery journey. They model advocacy and empowerment by sharing their lived experience with mental and/or substance use disorders and recovery. They provide information and resources regarding patient rights and the complaints and grievance process.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assists in the implementation of the facility's Peer Supproter Program :
- coordinates programs with other Peers Recovery team members ;
- Provides monthly reports, as needed;
- designs and facilitates services and supports to aid patients' in their recovery efforts
- assistance with daily management
- social and emotional support
- linkages to clinical care and community resources, (e.g. sharing personal recovery story, teaching relaxation strategies and coping skills);
- documents explanations in accordance with departmental policy;
- mentor's patients in recovery process
- educates client regarding services provided to aid in recovery;
- provides information and assists patient with application for supplemental programs
- act as liaison between patient and staff
- coordinates responses to inquiries
- conducts presentations and offers technical assistance to all stakeholders

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination in accordance with federal regulation Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Final Interim Rule 2021-23831 and 42 CFR 483.80 and 42 CFR 483.430(f), State of Ohio Administrative Policy HR-52, and OhioMHAS Policy HR-03.
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check and urinalysis.
