DESCRIPTION:

The Children’s Pastor is a 10 hour part-time position that will oversee Weekly Religious
Education (Godly Play) and the Sunday Morning educational experiences (developed in collaboration with the rector) for children ages 3-6.

The spiritual formation of children and young families is a priority at St. Christopher’s. This will be reflected in programming that intentionally creates spaces for moments of awe and wonder in the presence of God that leads to life transformation in community with other followers of
Jesus through practices of Scripture, silence, solitude, and service.

RELATIONSHIPS:

1. Shall work with and directly under the supervision of the Rector.

2. Shall communicate with parents/guardians of children.

MINISTRY RESPONSIBLITIES:

To oversee and implement Sunday Morning children’s education opportunities by:

1. Recruiting and equipping volunteer leaders

2. Creating or finding age-appropriate children’s curriculum that ministers to children at their various levels of spiritual interest and encourages children to take the next step in their spiritual development.

3. Communicate with families of program participants

4. To coordinate with the School Director and Lead Teachers to implement a weekly Godly Play schedule for all students ages 2-Kindergarten.

5. Develop a bi-weekly chapel program focusing on age-appropriate Bible stories and basic prayers (the Lord’s Prayer, Grace Over Meals, , Prayers Before Nap/Bedtime)

QUALIFICATIONS:

A passion and love for our children and families; to see them grow in their faith together.

Familiarity or willingness to learn about and support worship grounded in the Book of Common Prayer.

Have the necessary training and proven competence in their area of responsibility.

Must submit to a criminal record background check and complete Safe Church training modules required by the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
