We're looking for a professional Working Chef who will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes using local ingredients. An ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and presentation, the ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment and developing recipes and suggesting new menu items. We're seeking a chef with previous restaurant experience, who can consistently produce positive results under pressure. You must have verifiable experience of a minimum of 2 years. This is a small operation with approximately 50 covers nightly with occasional wedding and event catering for up to 100 guests. The ideal candidate will include at least 3 photographs of completed dishes they have previously prepared demonstrating their plating skills when sending their application..

This is PART TIME Friday and Saturday evenings to start with Thursdays used to prep if needed. Perfect for someone just starting their culinary career or someone looking to transition out. We require a minimum of 2 years cooking and plating in a restaurant setting. Washing dishes or working at McDonald's or Subway DO NOT COUNT. The ability to create new items for our lite menu is a plus. You must be able to follow our item directions and put out each item consistently.

A drivers licence is required as well as the ability to stand for 3 hours at a time.

We are located in Troy New York so please understand where that is. If you live in Texas, Arkansas, Florida or currently are moving to Japan this position is not for you. If you send a resume showing that you have had 14 jobs in the last 3 years you will immediately be disqualified.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow recipes to prepare meals in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills.
  • Have knowledge of local food history; work with locally grown food when possible.
  • Have knowledge of health laws and regulations and follow them appropriately.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 2 year experience as a Cook/Chef at a Fine Dining Restaurant, Hotel or Catering

2. Food handling certificate.

3. Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.

4. Compute basic arithmetic.

5. Legible communication.

6. Comprehend and follow recipes.

7. Ability to:

  • perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • prioritize and organize.
  • be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • follow directions thoroughly.
  • work with minimal supervision.
  • Work Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
