The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides both operational and programmatic support to Easterseals MORC. The CFO oversees all finance and accounting and facilities management functions. The CFO is the chief financial spokesperson for the organization. The CFO reports directly to the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and directly assists the Senior Leadership Team and Leadership Team on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding.
- Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission.
- Work with the president/CEO on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships at community, state, and national levels.
- Oversee all accounting functions:
- Communicate financial management matters across the organization.
- Monitor banking activities of the organization.
- Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place.
- Collaborates with the Chief Revenue Cycle Officer in the projection and reporting of revenue to maximize opportunities.
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee federal awards and programs.
- Bank and Creditor relationships and long-term financing.
- Represents organization in all matters of treasury operations and financing
- Secures financing and maintains debt instruments and compliance
- Assures compliance to policies on investments and cash utilization
- Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors.
- Collaborates and provides department directors with an operating budget, working together to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements. This includes:
- Budget development and financial analysis;
- Interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and contractual guidelines;
- Ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel;
- Monitoring compliance.
- Oversee and collaborates relative to the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including.
- Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased with government funds (computers, etc.) assuring all are in accordance with federal regulations.
- Partners with the Director of Business Development & Strategic Initiatives and Chief Program Officer(s) in developing new business, specifically: assist the CEO, strategy leadership and program leadership in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.
- Assist in the development and negotiation of contract rates.
- Oversee all facilities functions.
- Attend board and subcommittee meetings; including being the lead staff on the Audit and Finance Committees.
- Promotes staff retention through policy expectations related to staff supervision, professional development, formal recognition, and teambuilding.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience at the Controller or Chief Financial Officer level required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Must have at least ten (10) years of financial experience, five (5) of which include management and oversight in the day-to-day financial operations of an organization. Experience providing financial oversight in a healthcare organization with a budget of $20Million+ preferred.
- Excellent organizational and project planning skills with the ability to work on several priorities simultaneously, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Computer literacy and competency with MS Microsoft Office Professional package including demonstrated proficiency in Access, Excel and Word.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
