Job Description
This position performs administrative work in directing the use of the Civic Center Complex. Specific responsibilities include overseeing all physical operations on a day-to-day basis including building upkeep, maintenance, supply purchasing, inventory, training, and safety.
ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates and administers assistance to clients and patrons.
- Oversees the purchasing, organization, and inventory control of janitorial supplies for the Complex.
- Oversees and coordinates with other departments for the preventative and day-to-day maintenance of the Complex and related equipment.
- Supervises the use of the Civic Center Complex.
- Assists in the preparation of purchasing documents, making purchases as needed.
- Oversees the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and event set-ups for the Civic Center Complex.
- Oversees equipment inventory and property management.
- Makes recommendations that impact the department budget.
- Directs Building Attendants and Building Technicians in their duties.
- Trains Civic Center Complex employees to operate all equipment, such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts.
- Hires and oversees all training for Building Attendants and Building Technicians.
- Performs performance appraisals, coaching and disciplinary actions for subordinate employees.
- Will be trained as an instructor to certify staff in First-Aid, CPR, & AED.
- Trains Civic Center Complex employees in emergency response procedures.
- Schedules and oversees the use of temporary labor for housekeeping and event setup needs.
- Oversees contract personnel for building maintenance.
- Supervises adherence to established policies, rental rates, City and Fire Codes, State & local laws.
- Serves in rotation as the manager on duty.
- Acts as one of the department’s Timekeepers.
- Provides quality customer service to lessees, patrons, and guests.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Understanding and knowledge of accounting and management principles.
- Must have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Must have considerable knowledge of the methods and practices of housekeeping and maintenance.
- Must have the ability to plan, delegate, organize, and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
- Ability to operate highly technical computer applications, such as CAD.
- Ability to supervise employees.
- Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Ability to work long hours, split shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
Licenses/Certification
Required Qualifications
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years of public facility experience or related field, including at least two years in a supervisory position. Must have previous experience in janitorial and maintenance work. Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in forklift and aerial lift operation preferred.
