CLASS A DRIVER
Location: Calvary Cemetery, Los Angeles
Status: Non Exempt, Full Time
Salary Range: $18.85 - $25.50
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. Candidates are paid at the minimum of the salary range or no higher than the first quartile of the salary range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, and other department needs.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Class A Driver will work in the Cemeteries Crew Department to transport materials and supplies to the various development projects in the Catholic Cemeteries. The Class A Driver will report to the Property Development Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle
- Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.
- Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the vehicle unit
- Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
- Transport spoils, equipment etc. from the place of origin to assigned destination according to delivery schedule
- Pick-up loads from assigned destination.
- Ensure contents are properly secured inside of the truck to prevent breakage or damage
- Safely and efficiently handle and unload spoils, equipment etc. at selected destinations
- Choose a route that will ensure timely deliveries
- Confirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered or recommended
- Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip by completing a checklist.
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required, skills, and abilities needed to complete tasks effectively:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Valid Class A driver’s license required
- 2+ years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred
- Clean driving record
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
- An innate sense of direction
Skills in:
- Skilled at driving large vehicles
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
- High level of composure and good stress management
Ability to:
- Be able to pass a background check and drug test
- Be alert, focused, and detail-oriented
- Always make safety a priority.
- Operate an electric lift, hand trucks, backhoe, other machinery as required
- Drive for long periods of time, long distances and in various traffic conditions
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Operate heavy vehicles and/or equipment
- Some stooping, bending, reaching above, at or below shoulder level
- Exposure to weather conditions
