Classified Linux Desktop Support Technician Job at Amentum
Amentum is currently seeking a Classified Linux Desktop Support Technician to support an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The overall program includes a 500+ work force performing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across multiple facilities and locations, for classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems.
You will be a part of a team performing task based and project based work. In this role you will support desktop systems as well as OT (Obsolete Technology) and IOT (Internet of Things) equipment in both networked and standalone environments, responding, documenting, and closing tickets as submitted. You will partner with other IT teams such as corporate cyber security, firewall and proxy teams.
As a member of the team, you will:

Receive tasks from a variety of sources to include Email, IM, phone, ticketing systems and in person.

Self-identify projects and also receive them from the customers.

Perform software installs and configuration, hardware installs and configuration, software troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Use various methods to record work completed (ticketing system, SharePoint, etc.)

Regularly perform inventory management of spare IT equipment (Computers, monitors, IT peripherals)
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Must have a Bachelor's and 2 years of experience OR an Associates Degree and 5 years of experience OR High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of experience.

Must have an active TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q Clearance.

Knowledge and experience of Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, Fedora etc.) desktop support, including build, install, configure, patch, remediate and troubleshoot Linux machines, peripherals and other computing devices connected.

Knowledge and experience with both physical and virtual Linux desktops.
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience supporting Windows OS.
