Classroom Teacher - Baird School:

The Baird School, an intensive special education school serving students with emotional-behavioral challenges, is seeking a licensed General Education Classroom Teacher (K-8) for the 2023-2024 school year. Candidates should have an interest in teaching all content areas to a small, self-contained class of approximately 9 students while working as part of an interdisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and responsible professional who loves teaching young children with a variety of strengths and challenges. Applicants should have strong classroom management skills and embrace proficiency-based learning. In addition, qualified candidates should be skilled in the areas of differentiated instruction within all major content areas. Experience implementing progress monitoring and MTSS is strongly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Implement social, emotional and behavioral programming including the PAX program.
  • Seek to understand and respond in a trauma informed manner to students' basic needs and dynamics while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Implement school-wide policies, procedures, practices, and curriculum in relation to the students' educational and treatment needs (i.e. PAX program, LSCI, and restrictive intervention).
  • Assess and report on students' academic achievement, emotional, social and behavioral functioning throughout the year. Integrate the assessment data and provide recommendations.
  • Complete trimester reports and assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with special educators, colleagues, administration, parents, public school personnel and other treatment providers.
  • Coordinate school based interventions with core team members.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Teaching License - EducLevel_I or EducLevel_II
  • Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle
