Position Summary:
This position will assist the Payer Relations team in the management of HealthPartners Family of Care’s operational, financial, and administrative relationships with payers. This includes completion and/or coordination of required payer documentation, communicating payer policy requirements, escalation of payer and provider issues for contracted payers for the HealthPartners Family of Care entities. This position functions in a supportive role on payer relations required tasks and works in partnership with various internal customers including but not limited to operations, credentialing/enrollment, finance/contracting, and revenue cycle.



Education/Experience:

  • AAS in health care administration/management, business administration or a related field or three years of related healthcare experience.
  • Two years’ experience in healthcare revenue cycle, provider network management, or other comparable medical group practice or healthcare payer field.
  • Previous HealthPartners Care Group or Health Plan experience preferred.
  • Epic practice management experience preferred.




Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Basic knowledge of healthcare registration, coding, billing, and insurance terminology.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to manage priorities and identify opportunities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent researching and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Additional Information:

  • Manage and maintain a strong, collaborative partnership with HealthPartners, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medica, PreferredOne, UCare, United Healthcare and other contracted payers/networks.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, education, and support to operational leaders on payer contracts, policy requirements and disseminates relevant information from contracted Payer Representatives critical to maximization of financial performance and revenue cycle outcomes.
  • Serve as a consultant to HealthPartners Family of Care providers and staff for contracted payer/networks inquiries on, insurance products and rules, contract status, medical policy, and other payer relations topics.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion, maintenance and/or coordination of contracted payers required documentation including, but not limited to facility credentialing, disclosure of ownership, attestations, and directory audits.
  • Assist with the coordination of the quarterly contracted payer meetings held for HealthPartners Family of Care entities which includes education, discussion topics, and addressing contracting, billing, customer service, coding, reimbursement, directory, and enrollment issues.
  • Facilitate resolution to escalated issues between contracted payers/networks and HealthPartners Family of Care entities as appropriate.
  • Responsible for communicating and partnering with the revenue cycle and finance leadership to ensure maximum reimbursement from all payer sources, which includes negotiating single case agreements with non-contracted payers.
  • Complete administrative tasks which aid in effective and efficient functioning of the payer relations department.
