Job Description:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Communication Center Supervisor will have strong customer service skills, experience working with a diverse workforce, the ability to function in a fast-paced environment and represent Apollo MedFlight to the general public in a professional manner.
In addition to the job duties of a Communication Specialist, Supervisor Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Manages the daily operations of the Communications Center.
- Assists General Manager in planning, developing, implementing, and managing communication policies, procedures and practices by reviewing current practices, laws, regulations, staffing and equipment to ensure compliance; assists in creating new, and recommending revisions and updates, to standard operating guidelines/procedures.
- Manages and monitors work performance by directing employees, and overseeing, placement, training, scheduling, conduct and performance.
- Evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, scheduling and directing work, counseling and discipline.
- Assists the General Manager with handling personnel problems, discipline, grievances and performance evaluations.
- Oversees the shift employees, directs and assigns responsibilities, develops work schedules, shift assignments and training schedules.
- Assists the General Manager in evaluating equipment, develops specifications and makes recommendations for upgrading/replacing.
- Operates computer and communication equipment. Ensures feedback to staff is provided on an on-going basis. Monitors dispatched radio traffic; analyses call trends; observes, inspects and monitors behavior of subordinate employees to ensure compliance with department standards, performance and conduct.
- Assists the General Manager in tracking communications goals, objectives and performance measures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree preferred.
- Valid State Driver's License or ability to meet the transportation requirements of the job.
- Two to five years progressively responsible related experience. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, will be considered.
- Must live or be willing to relocate to the Houston area.
- Dispatch/Call Center experience strongly preferred.
- Must be able to pass a federal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Medical terminology preferred.
IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES:
Work requires comprehensive, practical knowledge of Communication Centers with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment. Employee will manage and monitor work performance by directing subordinate supervisors, including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed. Skill in using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with a minimum of direction; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols.
