Under the leadership of Dr. Branden Grimmett, the inaugural vice provost for career and professional development and associate dean of the College, The Pathways Center helps Emory students and alumni reach their full potential through integrated career services, undergraduate research, national scholarships and fellowships, pre-health advising, and experiential learning. Our division includes a total of 35 team members, 7 of which make up the Pathways leadership team. The Pathways Center serves as a national model for higher education in seamlessly preparing students and connecting them to resources.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Consults with management and staff to design, develop and maintain a website.
- Develops, writes and edits various communications materials including correspondence, newsletters, brochures and articles.
- Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.
- Maintains required record-keeping and documentation.
- May train staff in the use of communications technology.
- May utilize various aspects of social media to accomplish work objectives.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- The Communications Specialist is a member of the National Scholarship & Fellowships team, reporting to the Program Director.
- Works in collaboration with NS&FP staff and the Pathways Center Associate Director for Marketing Operations to plan communications cycles and strategies; develop, manage, and cultivate a communications calendar; provides writing and editing support to program staff.
- Balances multiple writing projects/timelines.
- Writes, edits, or develops various communications materials such as articles, newsletters, blogs, and press releases across a range of topics highlighting NS&FP events, activities, students, and alumni; this includes conducting interviews and identifying key quotes.
- Publishes department newsletters, which includes monitoring student, faculty, and community communications for opportunities to cross-promote programming.
- Ensures updating of NS&FP websites and coordinates NS&FP social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube; recruits and manages student and alumni guest bloggers; reviews and edits student/alumni posts.
- May attend programs and events to gather photos and material for social media posts.
- Ensures up to date calendar postings and other campus publicity for NS&FP programming.
- Coordinates NS&FP alumni and stakeholder communications throughout the year to keep constituencies informed and build meaningful relationships.
- Drafts, circulates, edits, and coordinates the production of NS&FP print materials including flyers, banners, signage, and brochures.
- Liaises with other Emory College and university-wide communicators to promote NS&FP programs and services and to ensure alignment with best practices and university visual and style guidelines.
- Manages subscription and distribution forms, queries, spreadsheets, and lists (Slate, Excel, Wufoo, Mailchimp).
- Proposes creative ideas to tell the NS&FP story and to increase the engagement of constituents across the university.
- Develops reports, presentations, press releases, and forms as needed for various departmental programs and service.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.

The Communications Specialist position will be a hybrid (on-campus/remote work) position reporting to the office 1-2 days per week, including but not limited to any special meetings and events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience.
- Demonstrated organizational ability, attention to detail, and talent for multi-tasking.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with a variety of constituents.
- Strong computer skills including fluency with Microsoft Office suite, working knowledge of social media platforms and social media scheduling tools, and proficiency in Adobe, Canva, or other graphic design programs.
- Demonstrated creativity in the design of marketing and communications materials.
- Prior knowledge of/ experience with nationally-competitive awards and experience with Slate and Cascade a plus.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
