Summary

The Manager of Benefits and Compensation owns the designs, delivery, administration, and communication of company-wide benefit-related and compensation/incentive programs that are cost-effective, affordable and competitive, and meet the needs of the business and team members. The successful candidate will have experience leading teams through the development and maintenance of a high performance culture. Position is responsible for both self-insured and fully-insured health and welfare plans with annual premium and claims in excess of $25M annually, variable pay plans in excess of $10M annually and base pay administration on a national level for 25,000& employees.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees team&s administration of all company-wide benefit and compensation related programs designed to attract, retain and motivate high performing team members while sustaining cost discipline. Leads and works cross-functionally in the analysis of financial impact across the organization and plan design decisions. Leads team in the implementation, communication, and evaluation of programs and plans for open enrollment, benefits, rewards and recognition and work/life activities. Partners with vendors to ensure compliance with service agreements and KPIs. Assures thorough audits, reports and cross-functional collaboration that company compensation programs are effective, compliant, consistently administered and effectively communicated to eligible team members and leadership.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, development, motivation, counseling and appraisal of the benefits and compensation teams. Manages and delegates the work of the team to meet service delivery objectives, deadlines and planned goals. Implements system and workflow changes to meet department objectives. Ensures cross training within the department is conducted where needed.
  • Oversees the collection, analysis, auditing, bench marking and reporting of benefits and compensation data. Relies on experience, judgment and creativity with a wide degree of latitude to accomplish goals. Monitors department budgets and company benefit expense accounts. Oversees the completion of salary and incentives surveys, job description validation and market pricing to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Engage with leaders to develop and execute reward and recognition programs across distributions centers, stores and the corporate office. Lead team in the reporting and assessment of reward and recognition programs effectiveness to achieve company objectives. Provides strategic vision for team member total rewards experience.
  • Responsible for internal and external compliance with all legal, security, and privacy requirements of benefit programs. Audits, prepares and submits compliance reports to appropriate agencies.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Education Minimum: Bachelor&s Degree in related field

Education Preferred: Bachelor&s Degree with Professional Designation (CBP, CEBS, S/PHR, CCP, etc.) demonstrating advanced professional studies. Masters Degree a plus.

Experience Minimum: 5& (Manager) experience in Benefits or related field, including experience in health plan administration, compensation plan administration, ERISA, HIPAA, FLSA, IRS, and all other legal compliance requirements

Experience Preferred: Demonstrated aptitude to analyze and interpret data with large spreadsheets and databases. Understanding of math, statistics and accounting as these skills relate to forecasting and budgeting. Excellent demonstrated project management skills. Proven people management and organizational skills involving multiple responsibilities. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Multi-unit/state retail experience.
