We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper who has experience working in the Construction industry. This position may offer one day of remote work after successfully completing the introductory period.

Candidates MUST BE proficient in QuickBooks and other accounting and bookkeeping software.

Manages the general ledger and all financial transactions, oversees the accounts payables and receivables process, and maintains updated and accurate financial records, tax reports, balance sheets, annual budgets, and financial statements. Also, processes bi-weekly payroll for 50-plus employees.

JOB DUTIES

  • Oversees all financial transactions, such as credit card and bank reconciliations, and manages the accounts payables and accounts receivables process.
  • Work with the general contractor or project manager and provides detailed financial reporting to ensure costs, timelines, and budget of construction projects are accurately forecasted.
  • Updates and maintains accurate financial records, contracts, annual budgets, tax reports, and financial statements.
  • Processes invoices, checks, and payroll accurately and on time, plus resolves issues invoices
  • Safeguards the accuracy of the general ledger and journal entries, and prepares balance sheets, and financial reports.
  • Prepares and processes payroll in the Paycor system. Logs all reimbursements and enters 401K in a third-party system.
  • Prepares project-related invoicing for construction projects.
  • Processes all accounts payable activity ensuring transactions are processed timely and accurately; initiating all payments both electronically and with checks; credit card transaction processing for credit card holders.
  • Assists with month-end close activities including the preparation of journal entries and labor reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintains accurate vendor records including adding/changing/purging vendor records.
  • Distributes 1099s and filings with IRS.
  • Responds timely to inquiries from vendors, customers, or employees and also researches and resolves concerns or discrepancies.
  • Reviews credit card statements and pairs them with appropriate receipts.
  • Assists with month-end/quarterly/year-end close process and reporting.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve processes in the accounting department and goal of going paperless.
  • Records daily deposits and reconciles to bank statements.
  • Reviews and posts daily bank transactions.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An associate’s degree in accounting or business, or a related field is preferred - a high school diploma is required.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience.
  • Previous experience in the Construction or Engineering field is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional organization, analytical, problem-solving, and communications skills
  • Familiarity with construction accounting concepts, tax strategies, and best practices
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and accounting software, such as QuickBooks
  • Familiarity with Paycor or other human resource software.
