Join UnCommon Construction, Inc., a fast-growing construction enterprise, as its Business Manager! Set your own schedule as you oversee the business and finance operations of this small (5-12 staff) but mighty ($2.5M in business last year), demolition-focused construction company.

Rooted in Lino Lakes, Minnesota, UnCommon Construction, Inc. deploys across the country, specializing in the demolition phase of retail construction. The company is growing rapidly and looking for additional leadership capacity, and to expand their bookkeeping and office staff.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Title: Business Manager, UnCommon Construction, Inc.

Reports to: Jeremy Larson, Owner, and President

Supervises: Bookkeeper and other positions to be determined

Job Status: 30 Hours a week / FLSA Exempt – Salaried

Benefits: No formal benefits package, but strong flexibility and autonomy

Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with skills and experience

Position Responsibilities:

  • Business Management
  • Leads, oversees, and evaluates operations of the company. Implements strategies in partnership with company owner.
  • Supports field operations though leading the office side of the business - overseeing bookkeeping and admin staff.
  • Financial Controls, Management, and Analysis
  • Oversee all strategic and operational finance operations: Cash projections, cost analysis, AP/AR, Payroll, Asset management, contract execution, and vendor management.
  • Risk and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. Examples include audits, record keeping, state registrations, department of transportation (DOT) regulations, job tracking by state, and income tax compliance.
  • Business Growth and Development
  • In partnership with owner, weigh in on strategies and plans for identifying local and nation-wide opportunities. Supports field operations through the execution of contracts.

Position Competencies:

  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of construction/demolition industry a plus
  • Financial Acumen: Strong, demonstrated expertise in business finance, job costing, contracts, and accounting oversight.
  • Builds trust through demonstration of strong judgement, ethics, and integrity.
  • Exemplary organizational skills, spanning all areas of position accountabilities.
  • Excellent connector and manager of people. Strong communicator.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development. Related industry preferred.

Tech Experience:

  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience
