JMT's Project Controls Team is seeking a Construction Estimator to be responsible for the review and negotiation of construction contract change orders on various construction projects for the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Review contractor change order requests
• Analyze change order scope for merit
• Gather documentation supporting requested change order costs
• Develop independent change order cost estimates
• Negotiate cost with contractors
• Develop strategies for negotiating claims
• Write and prepare detailed estimate reports

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Project, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, and Excel
• Ability to interpret construction contracts, specifications, and drawings
• Understanding of general construction means and methods
• Knowledge of contract procedures and principles
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related technical field preferred
• 3 -5 years’ Experience with Facilities construction preferred

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
