Position Summary

​Maine Oxy is looking for analytical thinker who wants to work with the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller is responsible for timely and accurate financial statement preparation, reporting and analysis to ensure compliance with company accounting practices. This position will include managing financial accounting and reporting, budgeting and analysis, and provide overall financial information to Corporate Officers and the Board of Directors to assist with strategic and operational decision making. In addition, this position assists in ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies, generally accepted accounting principles and multi state and federal regulations as applicable. This position is Monday - Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct management of employees in Accounting and Accounts Receivables which includes hiring, training and planning work assignments, performance appraisals, compensation review and issue resolution.
  • Manage financial reporting which includes preparing monthly subsidiary and consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, cost center reviews, and variance reporting.
  • Direct preparation of annual audit financial statements as well as support the income, sales & use, personal property tax and IRS form 5500 filings.
  • Maintain the system of accounts and records for all Company transactions and assets. This includes General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
  • Coordinate and prepare for the annual budget and financial forecasting processes, including analyzing and reporting on variances.
  • Work with Senior Management to driving financial and operational accountability throughout the organization with an emphasis on coordination of Sales, Operations and Administrative functional areas.
  • Support the treasury, risk management, and taxation as needed.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of GAAP, strong problem solving skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, Access, database management and financial accounting software packages.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication aptitude, with strong analytical and financial skills.
  • Ability to present financial data in a clear and concise manner and provide supporting information with analytical and strategic input.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance with strong GAAP accounting knowledge required; CPA or MBA is preferred
  • 5+ years of private and or public financial accounting managerial experience; manufacturing, retail and or distribution industry experience as well as M&A skills a plus

  • Frequent sitting and standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; may stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
