The Stow Company is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Plant Controller located in Nampa, Idaho -a unique start-up opportunity to lead the controllership of our new manufacturing facility. We are the country’s premier source for custom closets and organizational solutions; designed, custom-cut, and shipped directly to our clients. Demand for The Stow Company’s products has driven the need to add another highly automated manufacturing facility that requires dedicated and highly motivated leaders to join our team.
Primary Purpose of Position:
To be a key leader in the organization, partnering with multiple cross-functional operations support team members both at our corporate and plant locations - utilizing their cost accounting expertise specific to manufacturing. The ideal candidate is data driven and has the ability to not only analyze information, but effectively communicate their findings to others, while proactively highlighting areas of improvement. This role will also maintain our standard costing system as well as drive necessary changes as the business and systems evolve and is responsible for timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process for our Nampa location.
- Works closely with the director of finance and plant leadership to drive positive change in operations.
- Works closely with operations and respective support teams to ensure accurate and timely capture of all production costs and effective analysis of production KPI (Key Performance Indicators) variances.
- Works closely with engineering to develop and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) and routings.
- Evaluates the cost versus benefit of new capital projects.
- Analyzes gross margin detail by customer by part and highlight areas of opportunity.
- Recommends and implements programs to improve productivity, increase efficiency, and reduce cost.
- Develops, monitors, and analyzes the manufacturing overhead allocation and burden rates to ensure accuracy.
- Supports operations project analysis including, but not limited to, make versus buy opportunities.
- Supports the product team including, but not limited to, full cost analysis/ROI (Return on Investment) for new product initiatives.
- Leads the cycle count process, root cause analysis of variances, and trend reporting.
- Provides leadership to the team, ensuring goals and expectations are achieved.
- Assists in implementation of ERP system and/or other software as needs arise.
- Leads month and year end closing, reconcile, and balance accounts and review monthly journal entries.
- Leads annual financial audit completion.
- Ensures GAAP is incorporated into the management of the business.
- Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing
- Previous start-up manufacturing experience a plus
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must have strong technical and analytical skills with solid cost accounting background
- Ability to analyze large volume of financial data and prepare analysis, financial reports, statements, and projections with strong attention to detail within aggressive deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to make solid, objective, ethical decisions
- Continuous improvement mindset with focus on elimination of non-value-add activities
- Able to maintain strict confidence in financial sensitive information and demonstrate a high level of integrity
- Must have excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to interface with all levels of personnel in an office and a manufacturing environment
- Ability to take the initiative and work well independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Sitting at workstation approximately 80% percent of work time
- Standing and walking approximately 20% percent of work time
- Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces
- Manufacturing environment with multiple machinery and moving parts
- Time split between office environment and walk-throughs/time spent on the manufacturing floor
- Position is located on-site
- Occasional travel expected (mainly Idaho to Michigan)
- Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends
The Stow Company may temporarily assign any team member with duties outside of their normal responsibilities. Such assignments may be warranted due to a variety of specific requirements, conditions and/or the capabilities of available personnel. Management will determine the nature and duration of those assignments.
