Job Purpose:

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, is currently seeking an International Controller to work from our Albertville, AL office. This position will focus on the accounting and financial analysis of Progress Rail’s international sales and operations. Progress Rail currently has manufacturing operations in Australia, Brazil, and Mexico and additional regional sales, service, and support locations in Chile, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Russia, United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom. The purpose of the position is to provide financial support and oversight for the international locomotive entities and business support for in-region operational strategies and execution.

Key Job Elements:

• Ensure financial statements for entities are closed accurately

• Provide legal entity/branch accounting support for various international locations

• Manage month-end closing process (Journal Entries/Account Reconciliations)

• Responsible for compliance with US and local GAAP accounting standards

• Coordination with regional controllers to ensure local audits are completed in a timely manner.

• Proactive engagement with international business leaders to evaluate sales and manufacturing strategies.

• Support the commercial and operations teams with proposals and/or investments ensuring they are supported by sound financial analysis

• Leading and developing the international account teams to improve processes and procedures to enable efficient and effective transaction processing and reporting for both management and statutory requirements.

• Responsible for forecasting and budgeting of associated entities, including process improvements for the international entities.

• Review and establish appropriate accounting treatment for complex commercial agreements

• Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to SOX controls

• Lead a global team of four regional controllers and associated accounting staff at all international locomotive entities (including establishing development and succession plans)

• Advise and ensure adherence for international entities with local regulations including income tax, VAT, GST, etc.

• Responsible for timely submission of Caterpillar requests (tax, VAT, etc.)

• Lead projects for international entity creation or liquidation (when applicable)

• Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as requested

Qualifications and Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience in accounting and/or finance leadership role

• Expert knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)

• International experience preferred

• Strong analytical, technological, communication and organization skills

• Ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels within the organization

• Strong understanding of currency impacts in global transactions

• Ability to work collaboratively with all parts of team

• Expert working knowledge in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
