This position is responsible for the completion of all cost estimating and financial evaluation activities, and also to keep the company hourly rates used in cost analysis. The Cost Estimator will interact with Core Team members during quotation and development, to ensure that all milestones are being completed and that all information being provided is feasible, in order to provide our customer(s) with accurate and timely quotes that meet company hurdle rates relating to financial results. The Cost Estimator is also responsible to provide product related financial analysis for company direction and support on decision process (make vs buy analysis, process comparisons, import vs local).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare the financial business case in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Create financial models to evaluate profitability during quotations and development of new business to ensure returns meet corporate targets.
  • Develop cost assumptions for new products and business.
  • Prepare customer quotations, cost breakdowns, financial models, and other required forms.
  • Work with sales team to identify and outline quote parameters for new customer RFQ’s.
  • Understand, calculate and update current manufacturing operations costing rates used in quotations, based in company financial balance and technical cost analysis.
  • Participate in financial and quote review meetings (internal and with customers).
  • Make sure all required investment, material, tooling, process and engineering hours are properly quantified for new products and business.
  • Present and validate the business case with local Management and HQ.
  • Interact with team members, other plants and HQ to compare costs (materials and processes).
  • Understand the value stream and support on decisions “make vs buy”, “local vs imported”.
  • Support during development phase tracking and costing technical changes.
  • Negotiate Intercompany Business (Sales and Purchases).
  • Assist in the development of department standards and procedures.
  • Perform all other directed responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist in the coordination of supporting quote documents. (i.e. Bills of Material, Statement of Requirements, etc.)
  • All other duties deemed necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s Degree with major in accounting, finance, engineering or other relevant field.

· Up to 3 years of experience related to costing, financial modeling and analysis.

· Experience with metal stamping and complex automotive devices is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Experienced in standard costing procedures and requirements.

· Experience on commercial activities and negotiation with Automotive OEMs.

· Experience on manufacturing process (machine concept/ capacity and time studies).

· Knowledge of financial principles, and ability to interpret financial models, budget files and result reports.

· Knowledge of different manufacturing processes, preferably stamping, injection molding, machining, soldering, forging, assembly and its cost driven parameters.

· Knowledge of company organization / administration and business valuation.

· Knowledge of procedures for quotation and development with Automotive OEMs.

· Strong MS Office skills; Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

· Ability to read blueprints.

· Understanding of IATF16949 principals and requirements, and commitment to meet all standards.

· Ability to speak German and/or Spanish is a plus, but not required.
