Bartender - Craft Bartender

The beautiful California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, is seeking a creative, professional Craft Bartender who is highly proficient and in all aspects of Craft Cocktails. The ideal candidate will exude friendliness, professionalism and Genuine Warmth and Care towards guests and co-workers alike.

Duties

  • Provide private members and guests with friendly and attentive service throughout their dining experience; create a bar atmosphere that is fun, welcoming, and respectful at all times for our members/guests .
  • Greet members by name as you come across them within the Club; use member's name at least twice while providing service at the bar; and set out Flags for Club officers at tables within the bar.
  • Demonstrate extensive menu knowledge in recommending beverages and culinary items per guest's relevant likes, dislikes, and dietary needs.
  • Asks guests for their membership card to start a bar check..
  • Create and pour craft cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and other nonalcoholic beverages according to Club's recipes and standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of cocktail and liquor trends; suggest new cocktail recipes and new bar menu items to F&B Manager to maintain bar current with local trends and generate member/guest interest.
  • Educate members/guests in the art of Craft cocktails, new bar menu items, and high end liquors.
  • Train dining service staff and other junior bar staff on bar product knowledge and beverage procedures.
  • Participate in and help organize on-going bartender training and monthly safety training. Attend annual alcohol training (C.A.R.E.).
  • Assist with taking and delivery of food orders for diners in the bar.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the food & beverage menus, including all ingredients that are in each and plate presentation.
  • Prepare final checks in a timely manner; ensure the correct member's account is charged accurately and run payments safely and securely.
  • Resolve service issues and member/guests concerns with a sense of urgency, using good judgement and a professional, respectful and hospitable approach; report all complaints and alcohol related incidents to a manager as soon as possible and no later than end of shift.
  • Complete assigned opening, side work, and closing duties to set the bar team up for success; ensure the bar, refrigerators, storage, and walk-ins are organized and fully equipped.
  • Ensure bar is set-up bar appropriately to meet the needs of the anticipated diners and special event guests during your shift: prepare fresh syrups, mixes and garnishes; monitor draught beer lines and soda dispensers, changing kegs and syrups as needed.Ensure timely and accurate input of orders in the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain bar clean and welcoming: visually inspect all bar and food service areas to ensure they are clean, neat, and presentable to guests; ensure bar glassware is washed in a timely basis and ensure dishes and cutlery are bussed to the kitchen on a timely manner;
  • Maintain glassware and liquor bottles in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promote JOEY cocktails.
  • Assist Dining Room Service team with telephone and taking dining orders when needed; roll silverware in napkins (roll-ups); and wipe bar menus to keep clean of food or fingerprints.
  • Make popcorn and fill containers with bar snacks as needed.
  • Comply with all Food and Beverage regulations and liquor laws; Reinforce members/guest identification requirements and age restrictions for anyone that appears to be younger than 30 years of age, ensure members/guests are not over poured; and all other alcohol sales legal requirements.
  • Requisition and store beverages properly; check refrigerator for correct temperature, and log on temp log sheets.
  • At closing, check that all doors are locked and alarm is set properly.
Back up Floor Captain

  • Provide assistance during meal periods when the F&B Manager is not present in the Main Dining Room.
  • Assist the F&B Manager with creating beverage buttons and running reports in the POS.
  • Report any safety hazards. Report any unusual activity via written report.
Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • 1-3+ years' Craft bartending experience (If you have high potential but less experience, we still want to hear from you for our dining room or banquet bartending positions).
  • Must have or be able to obtain valid local and/or state Food Handler and Alcohol Server/Seller permits.
  • Possess a passion for hospitality and a proven track record of creating world-class hospitality experiences for bar patrons.
  • Have excellent Interpersonal skills with ability to create repeat business.
  • Ability to up-sell in a natural, suggestive and welcoming manner
