Custodian Position Purpose
Performs general cleaning of the offices and public areas of the facility. Performs basic maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, etc. Provides some grounds maintenance, plumbing maintenance, and basic carpentry.
Custodian Essential Functions
- Pull all trash daily.
- Dust and mop hard floors, plus vacuum carpeted areas.
- Clean restrooms and disinfect surfaces daily. Deep clean restrooms twice a week; clean from top to bottom using best practices in industrial hygiene maintenance and cleaning,
- Washes internal windows on a regular basis.
- Cleans the tables plus sweeps and mops floors in break rooms.
- Cleans halls throughout the day.
- Clean the sidewalk, fence line, and parking lot throughout the day.
- High/low dust cubicles and offices.
- Strip & wax floors.
- Manage cleaning products and cleaning supplies inventory.
- Perform light maintenance: change air filters, replace ceiling tiles, etc.
Custodian Minimum Qualifications
- Six (6) months of janitorial experience.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Ability to operate floor buffers and vacuum.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Knowledge of the use of industrial hygiene practices.
- Ability to manage own work schedule with minimum supervision.
- Maintain an appropriate supply of cleaning products.
- Valid Driver’s License
Custodian Physical Requirements
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead.
- Physical ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition.
