POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Custodian

DEPARTMENT: Support Services

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Support Services Director

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible, and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the needs arises. The Custodian will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and the public areas.

· Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming.

· Clean windows and mirrors.

· Clean and supply restrooms.

· Remove waste and empty trash.

· Maintain cleaning chart indicating areas that were cleaned and inspected.

· Replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies.

· Organize janitorial storage areas.

· Notify supervisors about unsafe conditions or concerning the need for repairs or maintenance.

· Will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.

· All other duties that may be assigned by the Support Services Director.

CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION:

· Must be registered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (www.mybgca.net).

· Complete required assigned trainings.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Ability to observe safety and security procedures and comply with policies.

· Ability to read and interpret written information; ability to write clear statements; ability to communicate orally.

· Must be able to complete physical work and operate power equipment normally found in custodial operations.

· Attention to detail and the ability to follow schedules and keep commitments.

· Ability to follow directions from a supervisor and be able to demonstrate professionalism.

· Must be able to manage time efficiently and work in both individual and team environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to perform duties which require walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting, bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.
• Must be able to use the telephone and other office equipment.
• Must be able to lift, move, manipulate and or hold objects up to 25 pounds. Objects that exceed the 25-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting, or manipulating.
