Forest Hosts assist with our forest operations during the peak season and create a welcoming and nurturing environment. Some responsibilities include greeting customers, providing accurate information about our products and services and escorting customers throughout our forests. Reporting to the General Manager, you understand the value of excellent customer service and have impeccable attention to detail to create positive experiences.

Solid people skills ensure our guests have a positive forest experience from the moment they arrive until their departure.

Note: Grief training and mentoring will be provided to support this skillset.

You will

  • Deliver an exceptional experience for customers in the forest from the moment they arrive, using genuine kindness, curiosity and professionalism.
  • Be aware of the impact of grief on communication, and support a diverse set of customers, experiencing a myriad of emotions
  • Assist in educating our customers about our products and service during forest visits for new and prospective customers
  • Support the delivery of forest memorials which are group events that include the spreading of ashes at the tree
  • Help with facilities and groundskeeping (trails, facilities, visitor area cleaning, etc.)
  • Participate in local marketing initiatives like presentations at hospitals, senior living centers, and other relevant opportunities
  • Facilitate the customer experience using and iPad and our internal digital tools such as Trees app, Talkdesk, Google services, and others
  • Work approximately 20 hours per week during our peak season, this is a 6 month position.

You are

  • Passionate about customer experience and a desire to want to help others with engaging face to face interactions.
  • Enthusiastic about working outside, you like to camp, hike and adventure in remote areas
  • Familiar with the gear and embrace the opportunity to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Able to work autonomously and remotely with distributed teams
  • Successful in a dynamic environment and comfortable with changing priorities
  • Comfortable speaking about death and dying, able to be sensitive and inclusive to people with chronic illness and/or at the end of their life.
  • Accommodating. We support our customers seven days a week. This position requires flexibility including weekends.
  • Able to sustain prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds
  • Able to accommodate in forest transportation by driving a utility vehicle and adhering to our safety guidelines. Valid Driver's Licence required.

You have

  • Experience proving customers with excellent service and ability to address a variety of needs
  • Comfort with public speaking that enables you to command attention of large or small groups
  • Experience working in complex emotional and familial situations
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills appropriate for various audiences, including customers, management, staff, contractors and community members
  • A desire to work in a outdoor environment with various weather conditions
