Cyber Security Specialist Job at KaiHonua
We are actively seeking a highly qualified individual to join the Cybersecurity team for the Network Enterprise Center (NEC)-Kwajalein. The Cyber Security Specialist must have extensive experience assessing risk for government Information Technology (IT) systems using Risk Management Framework (RMF) and developing/maintaining cyber documentation and system authorization artifacts. The Cyber Security Specialist should have experience with DoD security hardening, collection and assessment tools, as well as experience with security architectures and firewalls.
Responsibilities (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:
Operate as part of a team that is responsible for the following:
- Monitor and report Approval to Connect and Authority to Operate expiration dates, ensuring authorization milestones meet all DOD published regulations and policies to avoid disconnection.
- Supports the administration, control and monitoring of the Assessment and Authorization (A and A) Program.
- Collects, reviews, drafts, updates and submits RMF artifacts and security controls documentation.
- Assists in the application of system security and accreditation processes for organizational IT systems.
- Conduct vulnerability network security scanning using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scan tool, audit and data security analytics and Host Based Security System (HBSS) to monitor and identify network and system vulnerabilities.
- Assessing security events to determine impact and implements corrective actions.
- Identify possible system intrusions, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Prepare and analyze various reports including vulnerability reports, risk analysis reports, security incident reports, compliance reports, and project updates.
- Participates in the development, implementation and coordination of activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities.
- Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.
- Reviews and evaluates the security impact of system changes (change management process), provides technical expertise recommendations and directions for NEC initiatives to coworkers, and may represent the Cybersecurity team in meetings and working groups.
- Applies information security and information assurance policy, principles, and practices.
- Analyzes authorized systems and data to ensure compliance with system authorization packages and research system issues.
- Develops and refines Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTP) for the Cybersecurity Team.
- Represents the organization in interactions with customers and other organizations.
- Serve as alternate COMSEC custodian.
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience with cybersecurity documentation and system authorization artifacts (System Security Plan, lifecycle documentation, continuous monitoring plan, Security Assessment Plan, Security Assessment Report, Risk Assessment, etc.).
- Experience with SCCM, ACAS, HBSS, STIG, SCAP, and eMASS.
- Must possess and maintain an IAT Level II certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002 and computing environment certification.
- Experience working at an Army NEC preferred.
- Familiarity with privacy overlays and Ports, Protocols and Services Management
- Familiarity with drafting military correspondence and orders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or another related field preferred. Additional training, certification, and/or years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Security Clearance/Background
- Position requires that candidate possess a final Top Secret security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
- U.S. Citizenship is typically required for a security clearance.
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to relocate and reside at the U.S. Army Garrison – Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (USAG-KA). You must meet current and future vaccination requirements for infectious diseases such as COVID-19 to enter the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport.
- Pre-employment health screening is required due to remote location and limited medical and dental capabilities on the island.
- Ability to ride a bicycle or walk at least 2 miles to/from work daily. There are no personally owned vehicles allowed on USAG-KA. Transportation is primarily by bicycle.
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 30lbs to waist height.
- Ability to travel by plane or small sea going vessel between working locations.
- May be required to work overtime.
- Rotational call back and emergency duty are requirements of this position.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
