Position Summary:
We are seeking local candidates living in Norfolk, VA only.
Handles moderately complex issues and problems. Applies practical knowledge of principles and practices of area of specialty. Supports, but also leads simple to moderately complex projects and programs. Primary point of responsibility, accountability and activity for the assessment, improvement, and governance of quality and ongoing fit-for-purpose of our company's critical data assets. Builds systems and processes that collect and process data according to company needs and goals. Creates and maintains the body of knowledge for organizational data.Professional Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated understanding of concepts/processes, developing ability/proficiency including:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience with metadata collection and management
  • Knowledge of industry data management tool capabilities
  • SQL code for intermediate query level functioning
  • Data mining and data analysis
  • Report building
  • Data analysis capability with technical data transformation
  • Data Warehouse dimensional modeling concepts and Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) modeling
  • Ability to create, modify, and execute existing SQL queries and scripts
  • Ability to mine, clean, and manage data sets and troubleshoot data issues identified
  • BA/BS in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or quantitative field
  • Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Management concepts through education or practice (experience preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business units to define critical data assets and develop a standardized business glossary and metadata repository as part of the Data Governance program
  • Assist in the documentation of new data stores and critical data usages
  • Support internal process documentation development and update efforts as necessary
  • Lead efforts to monitor and improve of the quality of our data assets
  • Lead data scanning efforts, including post-scan analysis and issue resolution
  • Develop and configure workflows in Data Governance tools
  • Implement controls in Data Governance related tools
  • Partner with system administrators to increase efficiency, accuracy, and performance of Data Governance solutions
