This role is a hybrid, flexible work schedule role that will require in-office presence on a weekly basis.
The Job You Will Perform:
The Data Engineer works to develop data solutions to enhance the capabilities of the Internal Audit Data Analytics team including developing and maintaining our analytic tools. They create the data pipeline that feeds data to the rest of the team and Internal Audit. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly motivated employee with the ability to work well independently or with a team. This position will report to the manager of Data Analytics – Internal Audit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the data acquisition efforts to support data analytic objectives using data sources across multiple IT systems (SAP, Witron, Concur, etc.).
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
- Query and validate data across multiple data sources with a strong focus on data integrity and security.
- Develop and maintain data source documentation, backup, and recovery procedures as needed.
- Identify and implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
- Work with audit personnel to discuss analytic project objectives and related data requirements.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable into process health, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external data providers, both domestic and international.
- Test and validate analytic reporting against established metrics to ensure results are consistent, reliable and accurate.
- Provide occasional data literacy trainings for the Internal Audit department.
- Adhere to Internal Audit’s prescribed data analytic methodology.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Finance, Information Technology, or Data Analytics
- Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology or related discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases
- Proven experience in researching and defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
- Ability to adapt to multiple tools and techniques for data extraction
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Alteryx, Business Objects, ACL, Tableau, etc.)
- Experience with SAP / Business Warehouse
- Experience with cloud data processing services (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Experience with Machine Learning
- Organizational agility, strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Demonstrated history of learning new skill sets as needed to perform challenging and complex tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing tasks, projects and demands, assigning resources when appropriate
