POSITION TITLE: Data Systems Manager

FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Managing Director of Program Strategy

DIRECT REPORTS: None

LOCATION: Onsite with possibility of hybrid schedule

WAGE RANGE: $35-$36/Hr. DOE

Operating the San Fernando Valley’s most extensive Community Nourishment

Programs, MEND distributes almost 4 million pounds of good food a year. JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Managing Director of Program Strategy, the

Data Systems Manager is responsible to ensure agency data systems are operating effectively to collect, manage, retrieve, analyze, and share program data with internal and external audiences. Develops processes and reports, as required for program and general operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Safeguards and maintains quality control of all MEND data systems across all departments.

2. Serves as primary administrator of volunteer, program, and fundraising data systems.

3. Establishes workflows for data collection, management and retrieval while ensuring the security of personally identifiable information of program participants.

4. Collaborates with program staff and leadership to understand program and department goals to ensure that the databases provides required information.

5. Generates queries, program reports, surveys, dashboards, and ad hoc reports for internal and external audiences to support program outcome measurement and management, fundraising, grant reporting, and marketing.

6. Updates databases and develops relevant reports based on new or modified programs, goals, or initiatives.

7. Develops data-related standard operating procedures, provides technical assistance and training to staff on procedures for effective data management.

8. Conducts periodic data validation audits to ensure data quality, integrity, reliability, and accuracy.

9. Works with vendors regarding database implementation, maintenance and program updates are installed in a timely manner; supports management as requested in annual service contract renewals.

10. Provides guidance to development assistant to address specific database questions, ensure accurate data entry of donations and timely donor acknowledgement.

11. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field desired; or combination of relevant training and experience.
  • 2+ years of database administration or related professional experience.
  • Familiarity with organizational measurement techniques, including data gathering and analysis required.
  • Experience preferred with client and donor CRMs, data visualization, dashboard design and customizations.
  • Experience gathering report requirements and developing reports in Excel, SAP

Business Objects Web Intelligence and/or Crystal; understand query logic.

  • Advanced proficiency in software including Outlook, Microsoft Access, Excel

(including macros and advanced tools), Word, Google Docs and PowerPoint required.

  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information in a safe, secure manner required.
  • Advanced level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate technical information to effectively train individuals and groups with varied technical skills and knowledge levels.
  • Time management/ability to multitask.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization is preferred, but not required.
  • The ability to interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.

TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time (70 hours per 2-week pay period); may include some evenings/weekends and local travel.

All positions contingent on continued funding.

All employees on County-funded programs must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Successful candidates for this position will be required to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or request an exemption for qualifying
