Job Summary
The responsibility of the Supportive Care Worker includes treatment of each client with respect and accept that all individuals have worth; maintain the confidentiality of information acquired through employment and only disclose this information when authorized or legally obligated to do so; follow policies and procedures as developed by Saint Rita Home Care in accordance with Kansas and Federal law; fulfill all obligations and responsibilities in a dependable and honorable manner; provide client-centered care by encouraging the client to make their own decisions; promote client involvement in their own affairs, including appropriate family and community involvement; encourage the client to contribute to their own welfare by doing tasks of which they are capable; contribute to the safety and security of the client, their own personal property and physical environment; ensure that Supportive Care Worker personal activities do not interfere with my judgement and competence; maintain professional conduct and behavior while wearing any Saint Rita Home Care logo or uniform before, during and after all work shifts; follow the Client Care Plan and check off list to assist with agreed upon services while assisting with Activities of Daily Living.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide quality, compassionate care to people who require support for activities of daily living;
- Meal preparations;
- Transportation to appointments, social outings, errands, shopping;
- Medication reminders;
- Companionship and 24-hour care;
- Respite for family caregivers;
- End of live Vigil Companion Sitting
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
- At least 18 years old;
- Has experience with homemaking, caregiver duties, home health care or related senior caregiving programs. Other related health programs may include a hospital, nursing facility, senior living, adult home care or hospice;
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
- Professional demeanor and appearance;
- Proficient skills to promote excellent client relations and customer skills;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- A caring and compassionate personality
- Pass multiple background checks
Physical Elements
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, to enable the Supportive Care Worker to communicate effectively;
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, to enable the employee to review a wide variety of materials in electronic or hard copy form;
- Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodations, to enable Supportive Care Worker to operate a personal computer, telephone, and other related home and portable adaptive health equipment;
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to enable the Supportive Care Worker to safely lift, move, or maneuver whatever may be necessary to successfully perform the duties of their position;
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, to enable the Supportive Care Worker to efficiently function in a general office environment, with frequent travel to a variety of field sites
Environmental Elements
- Must be willing to work in the environment the client calls home; their own house, their families house, and adult care facility, hospice center in environments with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and direct exposure to hazardous physical substances in personal hygiene duties. Supportive Care Workers may interact with upset clients or family members- ability to deescalate situations to gather full control and compassion to calm and soothe.

All Saint Rita Home Care workers are required to show proof of up-to-date Covid-19 vaccines and/or wear PPE as provided by Saint Rita Home Care, and complete ongoing training to stay current with ever changing requirements, ultimately to keep Clients safe.
