Overview of EMT Career Pathway Program
This program will allow for state certified EMT classes to be taught at the Deaconess EMS Indiana base at 4333 Epworth Road on the Deaconess Gateway Campus in Newburgh . EMT Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for eight hours, and will be paid. Employees must work the remainder of their authorized hours in an entry level position such as our Dietary/Food Service departments, or Environmental Services Department during the length of the program. At the end of class period, students will have the opportunity to take the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) exam. Once passed, the employee will then be transferred to work as a full time employee with Deaconess as a certified EMT for a minimum of three years from the certification date at our Henderson, Kentucky EMS Base, Newburgh, Indiana EMS Base, the Eldorado, or the IL EMS Base.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Must have a valid driver’s license and have an insurable driving record with minimum driving infractions.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Overview
As an EMT you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess. Your day will typically be delivering and administering care and transportation to ill and injured individuals. Our EMS team delivers clinical excellence and compassion in providing for the physical and emotional needs of patients.
