School Leadership: Assists in the establishment of goals and objectives for the school.Provides leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional programsProvides leadership in teaching techniques, innovation, and class organizationAssists the principal in identifying, planning, and implementing staff development programs in accordance with assessed needsPromotes leadership in the implementation of social/emotional learning initiativesRepresents MERHS on school & district committees as assigned. Assist in the development and management of the high school schedule Assists in management of course registration in collaboration with Guidance Department as assignedAssist in the development of the operating budget for the High SchoolServes as substitute building principal as requiredStaff Management: Assist Principal in the assignment and supervision of all teacher dutiesAssist Principal in the supervision and evaluation of all staffAssist in the development of the handbookResource Management: In collaboration with the Principal, manages information systems including but not limited to ASPEN, Blackboard, and Google ClassroomAssists in the development and implementation of building policy and procedures as assigned by the PrincipalAs assigned by the Principal, monitors the maintenance of the school and school facilities; assists in the security of the building, assists in the supervision of building employeesCoordinates and interacts with community resources, including but not limited, to police and fireStudent Support & Management: Supports students social emotional development and skill buildingSeeks ways to develop and sustain a climate of mutual respect between and among the students and adults who participate at schoolCommunicates with parents on all matters pertinent to High School studentsManages student attendance including tardy students and students with chronic absenteeismEstablishes and enforces disciplinary procedures which allows due process to the rights of students; familiarizes students, staff, and parents with the disciplinary process; hears and acts on behavior problems referred to the principals office, complies with annual discipline report, revises the student handbook Conducts bullying and harassment investigations in accordance with district policies.Monitors halls, bathrooms, school grounds and pupil movement to ensure a safe and orderly school environmentMeets regularly with guidance counselors, adjustment counselor, special education staff and Principal to discuss high profile student issuesConducts re-entry meetings and assists in the development of individual assistance plans in collaboration with the Bridge Program for students returning to school after extended absenceParticipates in identifying at-risk students and works with the student, parents, and guidance/support personnel to develop appropriate programmatic plans to meet their needs.Through collaboration with the school nurse and others, organizes, and coordinates health and substance abuse prevention programs.Participates in Student Services team meetings when deemed appropriateAssists in the management of the student support team member and the crisis intervention teamAssists Principal in the management and implementation of Section 504 Accommodation PlansAttends student activities to assist in supervision and to show support for student achievementsAssists in the administration of appropriate recognition of student achievementReports and Procedures: Maintains accurate records including but not limited to statistics on disciplinary infractions that specify type, incidence, and trendsAssists in overseeing attendance records and follows proper district procedures and protocols for parent notifications and reporting.Assists in developing informational programs for parents regarding school programs and proceduresCurriculum: Assists Principal and Directors in implementing the curriculum within the High SchoolProvides input based on student feedback for modifications to the program of studiesAssists Principal in preparation, administration, and analysis of MCAS and student academic progress monitoring dataSpecial: Serve as a district administrative team memberServe as a member of building administrative teamAttend meetings of the School Committee as required by the PrincipalComplete, in a timely fashion, special duties assigned by the Principal Serve as acting Principal when so designated by PrincipalPerform related responsibilities as designated by the PrincipalAssist in coordinating incoming High school studentsAssist in coordinating freshman transition activities
