This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) student to work with the Executive Director for Digital Extension and Engagement within the Division of University Information (UIT) and Technology at Oregon State University (OSU). We seek a student to assist with research and development on topics of and relating to Broadband, Digital Divide, and Digital Equity and Inclusion.
This position will assist with:
  • Reviewing, summarizing, and responding to policies at the state and federal level
  • Creation, implementation, and evaluation of equity frameworks
  • Assist with data gathering, analysis, and presentation on the Digital Divide
  • Provide support for the Oregon Broadband Equity Coalition (OBEC)


We are seeking a student who is able to work approximately 10-20 hours per week. Candidate must be interested in developing their professional skills. Training will be provided or made available for self-study as necessary on topics of diversity, equity and inclusion, the digital divide, broadband, community engaged outreach models, data design and analysis, presentations, and more.

  • Work individually and collaboratively on assigned projects and tasks.
  • Assist in planning projects, including scope of deliverables and timelines.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with Oregon Broadband Equity Consortium partners to on website and other outreach materials.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects/deadlines while clearly communicating status.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with digital graphic design software, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar.
  • Proficiency working with data and related tools including spreadsheets, databases and analytics.
  • Experience with broadband.
  • Experience with demographics and or GIS.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Supervisor is willing to teach what you’re willing to learn. There could be a wide variety of tasks and projects you’re asked to work on. I want someone who cares and is willing to try new things.
