Position Summary:
Pay: $15.62 - $16.29 per hour (Differential pay for AMAP, SHIFT LEADER and afternoon overnight, and driver). Union benefit is available.
LOCATION 1: 2053 GRAND AVENUE, BRONX, NEW YORK, NY 10453.
LOCATION 2: 3050 LACONIA AVENUE, BRONX, NY 10469.
LOCATION 3: 1668 GRAND AVENUE, BRONX, NY 10453.
LOCATION 4: 194 WEST, 180TH STREET, BRONX, NY 10467

Direct Support Professionals provide daily support for developmentally disabled adults in our Bronx residences.
We are seeking conscientious and kind individuals who are dedicated to helping our residents lead fuller lives while helping to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintains daily records on each consumer (Medication).
- Participates in all in-service training, including SCIP, CPR, First Aid and AMAP, Driver and non-driver.
- Adheres to the weekly regular and amended schedule.
- Assists in assessment of individual needs/strengths.
- Assists in planning individual programs based on needs.
- Participates in reviews, i.e., ITT/IDT for consumer.
- Administration of medications as assigned by managers. (AMAP Certification Required)
- Review individual program plan reports and signs reports after reviewed.
- Responsible for maintaining/supervising each individual’s bedroom, clean closets, windows and all environmental surroundings.
- Carry out schedule of daily activities for individuals.
- Follow Individual Program Plan for each individual and document appropriately.
- Completes assigned tasks within tour of duty.
- Upholds individual’s rights following procedures as written by agency
- Advocates for individuals.
- Responsible for daily upkeep of individual’s belongings. (Assure adequate supply of clean, ironed clothing. Change as needed.
- Responsible for the preparation of clothing lists with the purpose of purchasing new ones.
- Reports any sign/symptom of illness or adverse medication reaction to RN, Residence/Assistant Managers and follow emergency procedure.
- Provides adequate and appropriate supervision and physical assistance to each individual assigned during tour to duty.
- Never leaves individual alone and unsupervised
- Never leave the residence or program without notifying residence, assistant manager or designed directly. Also will not leave the residence even after the shift is over until the relief persons report for work.
- Responsible for completing individual’s laundry or monitor’s laundry goals for consumer capable of doing on their own.
- Maintains neatness and general cleanliness of the facility.
- Picks up, puts away program supplies.
- Informs residence manager of articles in need of repair of replacement in writing
- Responsible for the preparation of consumer’s meals following specific menu. Also responsible for interim shopping and maintenance of cleanliness of general kitchen appliances.
- Drive the agency vehicles in order to facilitate the consumers with activities and programming.
- Complete other job responsibilities as per residence manager and any other supervisor’s request.

- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to make precise arm-hand positioning movements and maintain static arm-hand positions. Position requires fine moto repetitive motion Make skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects. Physical agility to bend, stoop, walk, reach overhead, push/pull, squat, twist, and turn. Physical ability to remain on feet for extended periods throughout a workweek. Regular crouching to retrieve items from the floor or lower shelves. Regular reaching to retrieve items form storage shelves and file cabinets up to 8’ high. The employee must frequently lift and/or move heavy and/or bulky objects weighing more than 50 lbs. Must be physically capable of performing above tasks.
- Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.

Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED and be able to clear a criminal background check. Previous OPWDD experience preferred.
- Certifications required: AMAP, CPR/First Aid and SCIP-R. Current certifications are preferred, or must be obtained within 6 months.
- Qualified trainees will be offered training after 3 months with the agency.
