The Director of Faith Formation (DFF) upholds the teaching of the Catholic Church and the mission of Saint Ann’s Parish in both their professional and personal life. The DFF is responsible for the leadership and direction of Parish Faith Formation. The position reports to the Pastor, via the business manager, and operates with latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative. This includes developing curricula, training, staffing of necessary classes, sacramental preparation, and catechist formation. The DFF must understand the nature and purpose of religious education and continuously assess the needs and priorities of the parish, working with the Pastor, the business manager, catechists, and parents. This individual will be expected to demonstrate good public relations skills and the ability to teach adults and children. The DFF will comply with all Diocese of Fort Worth policies
Principal Accountabilities:
- Organize, schedule and oversee religious education program for pre-school through 12th grade.
- Elementary catechesis – Supervise the CRE minister in Implementing, maintaining, and administering the K- 5th grade Catechesis.
- Middle and high school youth ministry - Supervise the Youth minister, providing needed support and assistance.
- Adult Faith Formation - Work with catechists to develop programs, seminars, talks, and the like to augment and enhance the understanding and teachings of the Catholic faith.
- RCIA – Provide information to prospective Catholics, provide guidance and supervision to RCIA mentors, and develop a schedule and program for catechumens.
- Sacramental preparation - Develop and implement all Parish Sacramental preparation programs.
- Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc. as assigned
Typical Decisions and/or Recommendations Made in This Position:
- Be available to help RE Staff on making decisions about the readiness of a candidate to receive the sacrament(s).
- In collaboration with the Pastor and business manager, this position makes ministerial decisions.
- In collaboration with the Pastor and business manager, this position makes managerial decisions in regard to staff and budget.
Supervision Given and/or Received:
- Following strategic alignment with Pastor it is anticipated employee is largely self- sufficient and accountable for most decisions necessary. It is further expected employee will demonstrate the proper insight to share details and obtain approval as necessary from the Pastor.
- Assist the RE Team in recruiting volunteer catechists, office assistants, and hall monitors for the programs and appropriate in-service training and formation for them.
- Identify and support the training for catechists at each grade level.
- Counsel, advise, and visit with students, parents & teachers when classroom problems arise.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- The position entails frequent and weekend work and will require a minimum 0f 40 hours per week and generally 45-50 hours per week.
- Works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business and ministerial needs, tight deadlines, and heavy workloads.
- This position is exposed to long periods of sitting, typing, and viewing of a computer screen.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel, usually within the diocese
Education and Experience Preferred:
- 1 – 3 years working in a parish environment
- In-depth understanding of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
- Experience working with parishioners in a Catholic Parish
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Knowledge of Roman Catholic mission and teachings as well as the structure of a Roman Catholic Diocese and Parish.
- A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage and work with employees of all levels.
- Ability to positively impact budget and increase savings.
- Demonstrates strategic focus, operational efficiency, organization, and planning.
