Sorority House Director

Job Description:

The role of Sorority House Director is a full-time, live-in leadership position at the University of Illinois, located in Champaign, IL. This position has a start date in the summer of 2023.

This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the House including facility security and safety, management of facility operations and establishing a sense of belonging for all chapter women.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the house and residents maintain health, fire and safety protocols to align with City of Champaign, University of Illinois Campus and Housing Corporation safety guidelines.
  • Act as point person for applicable University Housing notifications and communications.
  • Manage vendor relationships to keep day to day functions running smoothly. This includes sourcing quotes, analyzing and selecting vendors as well as managing ongoing vendor performance.
  • Provide professional and diplomatic interactions with students, parents, alumni, service providers and community resources. In addition, maintain a reciprocal and respectful relationship with the chapter executive board.
  • Help to maintain a sense of shared responsibility and community among the live-in members of the sorority.
  • Arrange for regular cleaning, repair, and maintenance of the chapter house, it's furnishings and equipment.
  • Managing on-time collection and review and payment of house invoices and management of petty cash.
  • Attendance of regularly scheduled meetings with chapter members, chapter executives and Housing Corporation Board.
  • Coordinate and schedule outside and seasonal maintenance.
  • Partner with the food service provider in meal selection and special event needs and executing same.
  • Effective and timely communication with Housing Corporation, chapter leadership and vendors regarding any maintenance issues or concerns of the chapter women.
  • Other duties, responsibilities or activities as deemed necessary.

As the House Director, you will have the following characteristics and/or prior experience with the following:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams), Zoom
  • Proactively take charge and assess a situation, identify issues and problem solve
  • Ability to manage multiple on-going priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – exhibit strong English reading, writing and speaking skills
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the operation of a computer, smartphone and general office equipment
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and maneuver flights of stairs
  • Previous property management experience and/or house director experience is a plus
  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Live-in at the sorority house with a private living area, 7 nights per week with meals provided Limited off-site time during the academic year schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
