Position Highlights
The James E. Rogers College of Law is seeking to fill the position of Director of Communications. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for External Communications and Marketing, the Director of Communications will lead a team in formulating the College's messages for use in communicating strategically both externally and internally. The Director of Communications will work with College leadership, faculty, and staff to assure compelling, consistent, and appropriate articulation of the College's mission, programs, activities, and innovations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops a communications strategy that maximizes owned and earned media and platforms (e.g., College website, email messages, social media, press releases, promotional items, etc.) to promote and advance College programs, innovations, and faculty scholarship.
  • Manage and respond to faculty and program promotional requests and needs.
  • Meet monthly with the Associate Dean for Research and the Director of Empirical and Policy Research regarding faculty spotlights.
  • Work with colleagues in the Marketing Department to build and engage audiences for social media accounts.
  • Oversee the production and posting of regular website and social media content.
  • Advances the reputation and priorities of the college by producing and distributing news, managing relationships with the media, and expanding public understanding of the value of our college’s mission at the local, regional, and national level.
  • Assists the Assistant Dean for Marketing and Communications in managing outbound digital communications, and the development, production, and dissemination of communications collateral to internal and external constituents.
  • Manages a direct report and their work on day-to-day content and copy writing projects such as website content, social media content, and news writing.
  • Manages communications project queue and monitor deadlines.
  • Drafts specific and/or strategic communications to stakeholders (e.g., students, employers, faculty and staff, community members) including items responsive to societal events, College special events, or incident responses.
  • Leads the University of Arizona Law's content arm.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Highly organized with an ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Proficient multitasker with an ability to prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency.
  • Skill in public speaking and presenting information to large groups.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
