Position Description
The Director Global Media and Financial Communications will lead a team of three communicators to develop and execute a proactive media engagement strategy to support Lockheed Martin's business objectives. This will encompass the strategy, campaigns and initiatives for customer and shareholder communications. The director will collaborate across the Business Areas and Government Affairs to develop key messages that accurately and effectively represent the Lockheed Martin brand and story to customers and industry influencers.

This position is preferably based in Bethesda, Maryland, or a U.S. Lockheed Martin facility. The role reports to the Vice President, Corporate Communications.

• Advance the Corporation's media relations strategies to align to key business objectives
• Create and implement a strategic, integrated media communications plans that focuses on achieving Lockheed Martin's goals
• Establish, prioritize and integrate data/metric analytics for all global media communications
• Identify opportunities to enhance corporate reputation and manage risks that threaten the Corporation's image
• Align, prioritize and integrate media and financial communications into the overall strategy for reaching external stakeholders
• Drive a One LM narrative for earnings, investor/annual meeting, media day, etc.
• Act with urgency, balanced by respect for others and sound business judgment, to handle high volume of issues and requests from external stakeholders
• Continue LM's media relations strategies and activities to a more proactive, strategic engagement
• Maintain positive relationships with journalists, third party advocates and external publics
• Oversee successful planning and execution of crisis communications plan for all contingencies
• Develop comprehensive interview prep materials and provide media relations counsel to the LM senior leadership
• Provide oversight and management of Global Media and Financial Communications team, including performance assessments, work assignments, professional development, mentoring and recognition/disciplinary actions
• Manage outside agency support as needed

Basic Qualifications:

• Progressive corporate media relations and financial communications experience in a leadership role of similar scope and scale
• Demonstrated experience using data driven decision making in media campaigns
• Prior experience counseling C-suite executives on media issues
• Superior writing, editing and verbal communications skills
• Ability to multi-task and work well under deadline pressure with employees at all levels
• Efficient and effective planning and organizational skills, including exceptional attention to detail
• A successful track record conceptualizing and executing strategic vision, creative thinking, and coordination of complex programs
• Demonstrated proactive approach and strategic thinking
• Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders and build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels in a cross-functional team environment

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $195,000 - $325,000 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
