Director of Human Resources Job at Palo Alto Alvarado Concepts
Pay: $85k-$110k depending on qualifications and experience

Position Mission: The Human Resources Director is responsible for overseeing the equitable application of employment law and company policies within the workplace, and supports operations in matters relating to employment practices, compliance with federal and state regulations and internal human resource practices. This role will support 90-100 restaurant locations in CO and supervises the HR/LP managers in other states.
Responsibilities Include:
- This position designs, develops, and implements effective people strategies and tactics to continuously improve the Companys service, employee engagement, and profitability.
- Function as the Human Resources leader, advisor and direct point of contact in regards to people related strategies that include; policy and procedure compliance, performance management, employee relations, succession planning, leave administration and workforce planning.
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise for their respective territories by ensuring compliance to mandatory labor laws, acts, and fair practices; is always abreast and proactive to upcoming changes for the city, state, and federal labor statutes or by-laws that impact and protect our people and company; and go-to expert on team member relations.
- Coach Operations leadership on employee relations matters to promote a people first culture and achieve a resolution without litigation; involve CHRO on complex issues.
- Advise and assist in disciplinary matters. Provide guidance on proper application of Company policies and procedures.
- Partner with internal and outside counsel to manage complex employee related matters.
- Conduct investigations involving high liability (sexual harassment, discrimination, hour and wage, EEO) Team Member complaints and disputes and prepare documentation of issues to decrease third party claims.
- Partner with Operations to deliver and facilitate training sessions related to HR when needed to drive people strategies
- Acts as an advocate for all employees, while defending the interests, policies, and integrity of the organization
- Lead the HR/LP team in the investigation of all evidence of unlawful activity or activity contrary to policy or procedure relating to the security of company assets in any area(s) of the company.
- Lead the HR/LP team to identify causes and/or conditions of loss or potential loss to all company assets achieved via interaction with restaurants or through direct notifications.
- In conjunction with outside counsel, maintains an up to date Employee Handbook
- Partner with operations and training to execute bench planning sessions
- Investigate all evidence of unlawful activity or activity contrary to policy or procedure relating to the security of company assets in any area(s) of the company. Ensure company compliance with all company policies and procedures related to security.
- Conduct inspections of the facilities to maintain physical security and protection of assets.
- Monitor closed circuit television systems to verify consistency with exception reporting.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- 5 years of Human Resource experience in a people focused environment
- 3 years of CA Human Resources experience
- 2 years of managing other HR professionals
- Fluency in Spanish a must
- Multi-unit restaurant or retail experience preferred
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- Advanced knowledge of Federal, State and Local legislation and Labor Laws (multi-State preferred)
- Computer savvy (PC required) with ability to learn new software/programs, if needed
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, unpredictable and ambiguous environment
- Works well under pressure and tight timelines
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Expert in Microsoft Office 365 Suite

Travel:
- Travel potentially up to 20%;
