Job Summary

The Director of Merchandising and Special Events will be a highly skilled creative individual who is adept at developing and executing merchandising and equipment plans that support retail, event and fresh food displays. The position will influence and support our teams across over 300 Higher Education campuses nationwide, with a flexible home-office location and significant travel.

This will include operational strategies, to maximize revenues and enhance the student experience as they dine with us on Higher Education campuses nationwide. Reporting to the Senior Director of Visual Merchandising and Style, this role will also assist in creating and executing national/regional special events including sales presentations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create special event designs complete with layouts, mood board, proposed rental furniture, smallwares and menu development.
  • Review and consult on design and build documents to ensure that brand standards are being met for station requirements on all refresh and new build projects for retail, residential dining and c-stores
  • Partners with account leadership teams to identify opportunities to grow revenue, maximize operational efficiencies through effective merchandising and strategic station mapping
  • Hands-on responsibility for updating merchandising catalogs and ordering guides/quotes including Supply America MOG.
  • Direct all visual planning and assist the onsite team with the management of individual projects from start to finish including budgeting/schedules, vendor management, site visits and execution
  • Responsible for sourcing display vehicles, merchandise fixtures, and service wares
  • Assist with the execution and curation of our brand voice , which is re-inventing the Campus dining experience
  • Support with rebid and retention efforts, to include master planning, facility refresh efforts, proposal development and presentation support
  • Hands on responsibility to stay current on trends and identify new smallwares, equipment and uniform opportunities
  • Ensure allocated capital investment funds are spent in accordance with sector brand standards
  • Develop and implement merchandising training for managers and hourly associates
  • Work with the culinary team to implement display, merchandising and operational guidelines for new and existing food programs
KEY QUALITIES REQUIRED FOR ROLE:
  • Passion for identifying emerging trends in the design/dining space
  • 5+ years of retail management, marketing, multi-unit management or merchandising experience; creative design skills a plus
  • 5+ years of catering management experience
  • Ability to produce digital schematics for special events
  • Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
  • Ability to review and consult on design and build plans for new build projects and refreshes
  • Must be self-motivated, creative, imaginative, and energetic
  • Must be comfortable interacting with clients and senior leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to organize complex information
  • Strong planning, organizational and self-direction skills with a sense of priority for tight deadlines and attention to details
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Travel up to 80%
