We are looking for a Director of Research & Development to join a world class lithium metal anode company. Summary: Director of Research & Development is responsible for leading an advanced research team to accelerate lithium metal anode and its batteries in next-generation energy storage. This position leads and supports the entire research and development team to design/improve overall performance of batteries and battery materials and contribute to extend Soelect’s IP portfolio and manufacturing resources and capabilities. The position will lead, support, and coordinate joint development work with customers to deliver the best performance outcome and product.

Will be expected to:

• Lead a team of engineers/researchers to develop and implement product performance and/or cost improvements that meet time, cost, and performance objectives.
• Lead all JDA/MTA programs and any federal/state funded programs.
• Secure the federal/state funded programs.
• Set the strategic plan for R&D including developing a roadmap of ongoing product improvements which will further strengthen our portfolio of products.
• Interact with cross-functional teams including marketing, procurement, operations, legal, and external third parties as needed to reach objectives.
• Refine our internal processes and ways of working to optimize efficiency.
• Track projects and manage projects from conception to launch and ensure on time project delivery.
• Provide project leadership and communicate updates across cross-functional teams and to senior leadership.
• Provide technical guidance to cross functional teams.
• Must possess ability to comprehend business objectives and work independently to solve problems in the most efficient manner possible.

Job Experience Requirements:

• Must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, engineering, or other relevant scientific discipline required.
• Must have at least 10 years battery research experience in industry after completing Ph.D.
• Demonstrated ability to manage direct reports and experience supervising a team of seven or more individuals.
• Strong knowledge of product development systems and tools required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $130,000 - $160,000
