SCOPE OF POSITION
The Regional Communications Center Director is a business professional responsible and accountable for directing 24-hour operations of centralized communications center for dispatch for emergent services, management of incoming EMS traffic to all hospitals & management of incoming and outgoing Medical Air transport. To be successful, this position needs to achieve these goals by defining and achieving the standard for quality patient care; maintaining regulatory requirements; developing, directing, and evaluating work team performance. This individual participates in development and maintenance of policy and procedures and is accountable for compliance with all regulatory standards. This position facilitates issue resolution and enhancement of work environment through collaboration with other departments and interdisciplinary teams. This position requires the use of critical thinking skills in issue resolution and decision-making.
The Director, Regional Communication Center is responsible for making sure the RMCC is in good standing with the state of Tennessee guidelines for disaster management communications. This position is a voting member of the Healthcare Coalition Advisory. This position facilitates RMCC Regional meeting with EMS, Public Health, OMDs and others to proactively plan responses to mass casualty event in the east region. This plan includes quarterly disaster drill planning with the community first responder personnel. This position facilitates training and planning between states and within states to continuously prepare for disaster situations. This position is also responsible for maintaining backup location for the RMCC and creating a plan for quarterly failover to ensure main and backup locations are fully operational as needed.
The Director, Regional Communications Center applies advanced knowledge of patient care provision and management systems, personnel development, fiscal and operations, performance improvement, and program development for the regional communications center. The individual promotes innovation and excellence in clinical, service and team performance. He/she demonstrates the use of innovative ideas to increase efficiency across the system, reduce costs, increase revenue where appropriate, and to develop positive and proactive team members relations. This position works to implement and evaluate system that promote cost effectiveness, efficiency, and safe quality patient care. This person serves as an operational subject matter expert in the state emergency management communications system by serving as one of the 8 regional communication centers recognized by the Tennessee for all incoming state emergencies/disasters.
This individual works with the Digital Care Strategy Officer to create a work environment that engages staff in the attainment of department and organizational goals and vision. The person actively supports continuous improvement in safety, quality, and customer service, through behavior modeling and by provision of work
environment conducive to attaining these goals. This individual identifies and analyzes gaps and expansion opportunities in the regional communications center. This position ensures all standard work, policies and procedures are documented and followed. This position will assist the team in the design of program workflows, metrics, and goals. This position will direct implementation of business plans & strategies for new regional communication initiatives. He/she will act as a resource for troubleshooting and/or problem solving. This position will oversee tracking state and system regional communication system metrics including performance of systems, business plans, implementation plans and growth plan goals. Direct and oversees the development of education and in-service programs both internally and externally. The director, Regional Communications Center works with providers, emergency room personnel, and other hospital personnel (internal and external) to accomplish efficient and appropriate transport of all patients within Ballad, outgoing from Ballad and incoming to Ballad via ground transport or Medical Air transport.
