Job Description/Responsibilities

(This is a salaried position - $56,166-84,249/yr DOE). The Receiving Supervisor oversees hourly personnel in the receiving department and is accountable for the off-loading and routing of freight deliveries for processing, maintenance and label departments; supervises, counts, and verifies the receipt of caps, corks, and other closures; orders and maintains supplies of tape and adhesives; compiles daily bottling efficiency reports; issues purchase orders for plant maintenance; and works with AP to ensure timely payment of invoices.

  • Directing hourly case house personnel to ensure work is performed efficiently and accurately. Planning work so bottling will continue without interruption yet minimizing shuffling of trailers to avoid double handling. Incorporating existing floor inventory to minimize partial pallets of empty glass. Arranging trailers for truck drivers so glass is available for second shift. Ensuring a supply of knockdowns are on hand for use by Bottling and Shipping when damage occurs.
  • Monitoring and enforcing all OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies. Providing leadership to the safety program for the Materials department through development and execution of safe practices and operating procedures to minimize the occurrence and severity of workplace accidents.   • Instructing and Supervising case house employees to improve skills and performance. Evaluating employee performance and skill level to determine skill improvement needs and developing improvement plans to address. Creating and developing a personal developmentplan with Materials Manager to improve a skill/competency that will
  • Ensuring adherence to all Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices. Supervising the receipt and unloading of various bottling materials including closures, labels, bottles, and adhesives and also supervising receipt of goods for other departments. Verifying accuracy of shipment against shipping documents as freight is unloaded and documenting and investigating discrepancies. Guaranteeing information is recorded accurately in company systems to update inventory records.
  • Meeting internal and external customer requirements by making sure daily deliveries are verified, material inventory records are up to date and information is communicated in a timely manner to guarantee no loss of production due to materials not received. Providing exceptional customer service by serving as a professional an dfriendly point of contact between vendors/truck drivers and the Barton 1792 Distillery.
  • When Materials Manager is not available, working with production scheduling and glass/PET vendors to schedule/release bottles for production. Adjusting bottling schedules for each line each day. Maintaining inventories of empty case goods and closures.
  • Collecting and entering data from bottling, shipping, and processing departments to create daily bottling efficiency report. Verifying finished goods bottled and shipped daily as well as a month-to-date total for each. Preparing various month end reports inculding efficiency and loss time reports. Entering the receipt of closures, adhesives, tape and plant maintenance items into System 21 accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Verifying with total bottled and shipped numbers with government records each month and reconciling inventory totals. Managing recyclables including cardboard and plastic. Arranging for and supervising removal from the plant.
  • Providing leadership to case house employees ina manner consistent with the culture of the company. Ensuring employees are treated fairly and with respect. Establishing a team environment when each employee is encouraged to make a difference.
  • Understanding career goals fo employees and working with them to develop skills that will help them meet their career goals. Creating and executing a personal Career Development Plan with manager.

Qualifications/Requirements

MUST

  • Associates degree

  • 3 years relevant experience (minimum)

PREFERRED

  • Requires Experience in Alcohol Beverage Industry or CPG overall
  • Requires Experience managing in a union environment
  • Requires Supervisory experience
  • Placement within the salary range is calculated based upon years of directly relatable experience for the position.
