Responsible for supervising members and subcontractors to optimize field operations to provide customer service, safety, and corporate profitability through builder installations and fireplace service and parts. Interfaces closely with inside operations, sales as well as contacts such as builders, homeowners, and inspectors. Responsible for member performance management, training and development, and adherence to FHH standards.

  • Ensure that jobsite is ready for fireplace, facing installation of product selection according to builder’s plan and manufacturer’s specifications by calling builders ahead of scheduled installation date or physically previewing the builder’s job site before the scheduled installation date.
  • Ensure job information matches PO supplied by builder for accuracy including Job Superintendent contact information, including address, directions
  • Communicate with production and contractors to promptly resolve scheduling conflicts or site preparation difficulties.
  • Ensure job is completed with correct product selection for fireplace and facing material according to builder’s plan and manufacturers specifications.
  • Supervise and direct all activities of the branch/division member and subcontractor fireplace installers, member and subcontractor facing installers, member and subcontractor service technicians and previewers.
  • Run and understand the Truck Reconciliation report.
  • Help warehouse when needed to perform the in/out procedure for fireplace, finish, and service member installers and subcontractors and assist with EFS Branch ordering and recycling process.
  • Ensure field members and subcontractors are taking the required photographs of the job and submitting the photos on Field to Base E-tickets and completing daily assigned E-tickets in a professional, comprehensive manner. Review the photos to ensure they FHH Standard Install requirements are met.
  • Manages the performance of the branch/division field members.
  • Drive CTP (Complete to Promise) by interfacing with production, sales, and inside operations to improve scheduling and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead regularly scheduled Dock Talks meetings with field members and subcontractors to review field issues, product changes or new product roll out.
  • Provide field members and subcontractor training and continuing education consistent with defining fireplace field activities and monitor required FHH job skill certification for all installation members and subcontractors
  • Monitor COI report and provide updated certificates when needed
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FHH Safety and Attendance policies, OSHA standards as well as passing all HHT certifications and remain up to date on all HHT fuel (gas, wood, pellet) categories
  • Conduct monthly Field Safety audits to ensure field members are adhering to the FHH Safety policies and requirements
  • Complete required Field Safety documents (incident report) per FHH policies in the event of a near miss or recordable incident. Must be present and report out information from investigation to local Regional Leadership
  • Embrace and integrate BPI in branch/division Field Operations
  • Need to pass all HHT certifications and keep up to date on all HHT fuel (gas, wood, pellet) categories
  • Work closely with the Regional Field Operations Manager and/or Branch Manager on strategic cost saving levers to reduce field job related expenses and to maintain product knowledge and provide constructive feedback to the Product Development Teams on issues and improvements
  • Attend and participate on Monthly DFOS calls
  • Decrease occurrences of Jobs Not Ready (JNR) or Incorrect Jobsite Information (IJI) through expanded previews, calling builders before install date, and order accuracy
  • Have a working knowledge of Prophet 21, review schedule regularly for efficient labor (members and subcontractors) scheduling and routing, be able to run proper reports to push E-tickets for next day’s work and be able to update quotes as needed working closely with Builder Sales Representatives and Branch Manager
  • Ensure Field to Base tickets are cleared daily
  • Complete all required post views for complex hearth product installations and complete builder and retail previews as required. Provide input back to the Builder Sales Representatives and Retail Sales Associates (MW only)
  • Monitor sales orders, truck reports, labor charges, and completed orders for accuracy.
  • Lead branch/divisional Safety Initiatives (could include establishing a regional safety program) and enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Approve installer pay and ensure the paperwork returning to the Operations Team for invoicing is complete, legible, and accurate.
  • Establish a feedback communication method with internal and external customers that will provide HHT Engineering with information that will improve product performance, improve the company’s ability to service products and suggest ideas for future products
  • Oversee the logistics of trucks, tools, and supplies.
  • Create an atmosphere of cooperation, respect, and high morale among members and subcontractors.
  • Maintain an active presence on jobsites.
  • Communicate to builders and other jobsite personnel and support Sales department’s efforts.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers stating the reason the installation or service call is incomplete or incorrect.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities


  • Must be physically capable of accessing construction sites and homes under construction including but not limited to climbing ladders, lifting, and carrying tools and materials, and walking over difficult terrain.
  • Must possess ability to read tape measure and use required tools.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have good computer skills (MS Office including PowerPoint, Excel and Internet).
  • Must have good attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and excellent customer service skills.
  • The ability to multi-task and to interact effectively with all types of people in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to present technical material effectively in front of a group.
  • Onsite presence is required for this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • HS Diploma.
  • Five years or more of related experience with working knowledge of field operations.
  • Familiarity with products including limitations, installation requirements, FHH policies, OSHA Safety standards and local and national building codes.
  • Ability to read and understand residential and commercial blueprints.
  • Management experience preferred
  • Gas Piping License preferred
