Bilingual Domestic Violence Community Victim Advocate
The Women’s Center, a non-profit organization with offices in Fairfax County Virginia, and Washington, DC, is seeking a bilingual Spanish-English Domestic Violence Community Victim Advocate to serve victims of domestic violence. The position works from Fairfax County Domestic Violence Center (DVAC), a comprehensive, co-located service center, staffed by county and community non-profit partners.

The position works from Fairfax County Domestic Violence Center (DVAC), a comprehensive, co-located service center, staffed by county and community non-profit partners.
Duties include:
- Assist victims of domestic violence by assessing needs and helping them access referrals.
- Provide psycho-education to victims of domestic violence.
- Conduct interviews in a structured format, providing information, support, safety assessment, and planning.
- Provide clients with current information on organizations and the availability of services.
- Provide clients with current information on court processes, protective orders, and legal services available to victims.
- Accompany victims of domestic violence to court proceedings when appropriate.
- Establish positive relationships with agencies and work in collaboration to assist victims.
- Attend domestic violence coalition meetings when needed, track data, and generate reports.
- Provide training to the community and do outreach.
- Assist in other ways as required in the implementation of the victim advocate position.
- Make appropriate referrals as necessary for immigration legal services beyond the scope of the program’s or one’s competencies, and other social service needs.
- Providing immigration relief information to victims of abuse.
- Review appropriate immigration applications in Spanish with clients for understanding.
- Assist clients with research and documentation gathering, including but not limited to: Copies, faxing, and assisting with record requests.
- Actively participate and receive training in relevant immigration-related information periodically as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of experience working with victims of domestic violence.
- Bilingual English – Spanish.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
