Our Center?s focus is to provide an accessible, high-quality, and developmentally appropriate education that promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development for children 6 weeks and older in a nurturing environment. Our instruction focuses on language and communication development through participation in exploration, play and socialization opportunities, activities of daily living, and evidence-based curriculum activities. We are an Early Head Start partner, provider of SC First Steps 4K and participate in the Quality Enhancement Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Our Center Director is the face of the center who works collaboratively with Crescent owners as part of a leadership team to effectively and efficiently run Center operations. The Director will manage a cohesive team of employees by managing the day-to-day operation of the center, coordinating the curriculum, ensuring compliance with company, local, state, and federal rules and regulations and planning, practicing, and implementing health and safety and emergency plans. The Director also will participate in overseeing financial affairs and documentation systems related to program enrollment and payments, inventorying supplies, and staffing. Our Director must have a comprehensive understanding of children?s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating childcare environment and be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children and parents and effectively guide teachers, teacher assistants, additional staff, and stakeholders to resolve any concerns. Excellent communication and organization skills are essential for this position and experience in childcare management and a degree in Early Childhood Education is required.



Duties

Key Responsibilities

� Excel in leadership skills, leading by example, encouraging teaching team success through modeling, coaching, mentorship, and support.


� Have a strong understanding of child development in order to coordinate and ensure implementation of developmentally appropriate practices and educational curriculum in all classrooms that align with SC Early Learning Standards.
� Create monthly newsletter, calendar and plan center-wide activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive emotional and physical growth.
� Monitor the center-wide implementation of developmentally appropriate and evidence-based strategies to address challenging behavior and guide the implementation of the Crescent Child Development Center Discipline policy and philosophy.
� Ensure a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment by maintaining appropriate hygiene, cleanliness, and safety/security standards. Supervise teachers, teacher assistants, and any classroom volunteers to ensure standards are maintained.
� Be results driven. Ensure all center policies, state, DSS/ABC regulations are met, including ratios of staff to students, emergency preparedness, and additional security measures and systems.
� Participate with owners in interviewing/hiring training, developing, and appraising staff effectively on a continuous basis, taking timely corrective action as needed in accordance with Center policy.
� Have the ability to work autonomously AND be team-work oriented, working collaboratively with others (owners, staff, children, and parents) to foster and lead in a team environment.
� Maintain effective working relationships and excel in communication and interpersonal skills when communicating frequently with parents and staff through informal discussions, the ELV site, and formal documented conferences.
� Manage moderate to high stress levels and have high level problem solving, analysis and decision-making skills while working with families, staff, owners and stakeholders to resolve concerns and conflict to ensure quality of care.
� Build relationships with and the self-esteem of students through classroom visits and classroom coverage when necessary.
� Develop and oversee staff schedule and delivery of breaks in accordance with state and federal laws.


� Be thorough, organized, and detailed oriented in maintaining organized, accurate student files/records.


� Process and monitor child enrollment, payments/funding sources.
� Inventory classroom materials and center supplies and relay needs to Crescent Owners.

� Maintain accurate personnel files and professional development plans to ensure continuous quality improvement and meeting annual continuing education requirements by SC Licensing
� Manage and facilitate Crescent Child Development Center?s participation in State and Federal Programs including, but not limited to: ABC Voucher, Charleston County Early Head Start, SC First Steps 4K, and the Quality Enhancement Program.
� Promote a positive image of the Center through playing a role in marketing to the communities that we serve and providing tours and orientation for new families.
� Participate in professional meetings or conferences deemed to be beneficial to professional development and Crescent Child Development Center.

Requirements

The Center Director must be at least 21 years old, hold a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, have 1-2 years of childcare management experience and:

� Be eligible to work in the US with an issued form of identification.


� Clear all required state and federal background checks and pass a health screening.

� Be able to lift up to 35 pounds.


� Complete at least 25 SC DSS/ABC approved annual training hours.


� Complete Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification to physically administer lifesaving procedures.
� Provide 3 Letters of Reference recommending applicant for Director position.
� Possess strong oral and written communication skills in English.
� Have basic computer skills to fulfill the needs of the Director role.
