About the Early Intervention Branch:
The North Carolina Early Intervention Section (NCEI) is the lead agency for the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program (ITP), which provides supports and services for families and their children, birth to three who have developmental delays and/or disabilities. Research shows that birth to three is a critical time frame for working with families to support their competence and confidence as their child’s best teacher because of what we know about brain development. This early learning offers a window of opportunity to make a positive difference in how a child develops and learns. The Children's Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs), the local lead agencies that implement the ITP across North Carolina, work with local service providers to help families help their children succeed.
EI Service Coordinators (EISCs) are the heart of Early Intervention! They provide service coordination for children in the NC Infant-Toddler Program and support to their families and caregivers. Research shows that birth to three is a critical period for working with families to support their competence and confidence as their child’s first and most important teacher.
